Mud Flaps
For those of you who have put mud flaps on your Monty where did you mount them?

I have yet to see any Montana or other brand 5th wheel with mudflaps. On your tow vehicle, yes.

I mounted them with extensions on the frame behind the rear wheels.

Jim. How far did you mount them behind your wheels? On mine I could add an extension to the support for the spare tire but this would put the mud flaps about 2 ft behind the rear tire and I was wondering if this would force the water into the slide.

I fabbed an L bracket bolted to the frame about 4" behind the rear tires. Bought universal metal truck mud flaps from Autozone and fitted as needed. I had grown tired of rock chips on my boat.

The extensions were mounted on the spare tire L bracket about 4 inches behind the wheel. I found mud flaps for a semi on line and cut to fit. I have Lippert storage boxes mounted under the rear of the trailer and the flaps keep a lot of water and debris off of them.

Understand mud guards for the truck. Particularly for duallys, they throw a lot. But towing Montana's since 2001, have not experienced any need for fiver mudflaps.

Mike ... some of us double tow ... the RV flaps do the same job the TV flaps do ... keep rock chips and such off boats or utility trailers. Believe me, your fiver kicks up a bunch of them.

Understand the double tow! That makes a lot of sense when towing tandem, something we have never done.

Thanks Jim and Kansas for your ideas. I picked up a pair of mud flaps which are 12" x 18" and I'll mount them about 4" behind the wheels with angle iron bolted to the frame. This should shield the PVC tube mounted for extra sewer hoses which is mounted behind the spare tire from the debris thrown from the tires.
Did the flaps help at all keeping the rear of the trailer cleaner?

Not allowed to tow triple in a lot of states. If you travel in states that do allow, could understand mudflaps to protect boat or other item.

Installed the mud flaps yesterday. Will see how they work on our trip south next month.
