Unbelievable stupidity by montana

Pitched up our 2015 from the dealer this morning. One item, refrigerator. Tech wanted to show why we had an early failure. The cooling unit packing material was still taped to the back of the refrigerator and simply installed that way into our unit obviously allowing no heat to escape, destroying the dometic 1350. If ours was installed like that others likely were as well. Maybe stupid is inappropriate, mabe intentional is a better description. Second items, upstairs black and gray cable flush valves. Montana used the wrong kits, some 12 feet too long, plus even then installed incorrectly. With the replacements, I can literally open and close either one with my little finger. Our dealer documenting all above to keystone.

Sad that some buyers have come to expect this "craftsmanship" as the norm. These are called "bugs" to be worked out after arrival at dealer and sale to the end consumer. Kinda reminds me of the "Microsoft approach" where end users are really beta testers.

Can't surprise anyone who's taken a factory tour of either Keystone or other manufacturers. When the bare frames, no suspension, comes in the back door and it and18 more units a day go out the front door it's a wonder anything gets installed correctly.

I know that there won't be anymore new RV's in my future. Crappy assembly by the manufacture who doesn't care. They may be all the same, but that doesn't make it right. My current 2010 3000RK will be the last new trailer I own and just hope that too many more things have to be addressed. Wishful thinking I know. Constantly having to replace or repair faulty equipment for a 5yr old trailer. Another 7 or 8 yrs and I will give up RVing and all the problems.

You could be correct, rich. Minor problems to those in control of the assembly line...huge to us. John

Pay attention to all the post were the problem is referred to as minor/minimal .How many minor/Minimal problems does it take to be a major one.

having been involved in quality control the Assembly line of ANY brand is a nightmare......"The cooling unit packing material was still taped to the back of the refrigerator and simply installed that way into our unit obviously allowing no heat to escape, destroying the dometic 1350. If ours was installed like that others" That is from the opening post...How could that possibly happen. How could it have not been seen. We have toured that line and others many, times. That indicates a lack of training, lack of supervision, lack of quality control and a lack of any self pride. It is also a blazing indicator of poor moral. I have been there evaluating organizations....done that.

That goes for any brand any assembly line.

It's a shame what has happened to American craftsmanship. This starts at the top. "Can't see it from my house" seems to be the battle cry. No more pride in ones job anymore. And the folks in charge are just as culpable, if not more so. Like Dick said, 19 a day. Wow. Get'em in and get'em out. The end user becomes QC. Depressing.

My two cents worth. I have said it in the past, A lot of us have spent more in your trailer then you spend on your tow vehicle. It is kind of funny that when something happens to the unit, we say minor, the factory has you chase around for fixes, dealers won't fix it unless you jump thru hoops, probably because they have a problem getting reimbursed, but we still put up with it. BUT, if our TV has a rattle,a burned out taillight or a wiper blade needs replacing, none of us think twice about going to the dealer, weather we bought it there or not and expecting them to replace/repair whatever we have for no cost under warranty, and the dealer does it gladly (in most cases). Why do we continue to let the RV industry treat us like they gave us the trailer and we didn't use our hard earned money. There, my 2 cents...

I couldn't have said it better! I would never purchase a new Montana again, or probably any new RV for that matter.

My 1350 failed after about 4 months. Dometic authorized a mobile repair service to come out and repair. When the guys took out the cooling unit they said had never seen what looked like packing still attached to unit. So Dometic was given a model #, and serial #. Guess what, the cooling unit we received was not for a 1350. This was 6 weeks ago and we needed to come home from FL. Going back to FL next week n supposedly the correct unit is waiting on us for installation.

I'd call ahead to ensure correct part was on hand before proceeding to repair facility.
