So they say we aren't really campers!
If you have some tent camper telling you that what we do isn't really camping refer them to the website acboot.com. Since the 100+ weather hit I've now seen two of these in the campground and I'm sure we'll be seeing more. Many new tents, Coleman for one, have an electric port opening in the tent wall. This company makes a shroud like device complete with a dry vent like hose that attaches to a window air conditioner and then pumps the hot air out the hose to the outside of the tent. Don't see much difference between that and what we do except we can't fold our house up when we leave (or at least it's better when we don't).

It really is hard to call what we do camping. I refer to it as RVing. I've been camping. I like this better and I can now afford it.

Call it whatever you want. It certainly is not worth engaging someone in conversation. Life is too short. Let's enjoy what little time we have left by enjoying our great RVs (campers) and all the great folks we've met or will meet! Happy Trails, Dennis.

All I know is we somehow ended up with a trailer that is just as nice or nicer than our house! LOL
Sure aren't roughing it with THREE LCD TVs, a fireplace, TWO AC units, THREE Fantastic fans, TWO couches, double-door fridge with double-door freezer, convection microwave, etc., etc.,... Oh, and I can't automatically level my house!

I did my time in tents and just plain laying on the ground while chasing after forest fires for many, many years. Now my idea of "Roughing It" is when I can't get the Satellite Dish to tune in!

I don't do camping anymore, been there, done that, moved on, I now do RV'ing. I need a counter for my blender for the margaritas so sit on. I don't got a problem with someone who wants to sleep in the dirt but don't thumb your nose at me just cause I want my nice comfy bed. Besides if you thumb your nose at me then you won't get a frozen margarita lol lol

I have told these people that I did my camping for Uncle Sam in the Army for 2 years and 27 days. Had a heck of a ride RVing and never looked back on camping "under the stars."

Camping? Not really because camping for me was when my Mom & Dad had a tent and we went out for the weekend, got full of campfire smoke, got dirty, and then came home and cleaned up.
We're more like that we adjusted our lifestyle to live in less than 400 square feet and moving our "mansion on wheels" when and where we choose. We've enjoyed it for the last 5 years.

Two men with full field gear in a pup tent in the rain for two weeks.....now that is camping and I must admit I wasn't the most comfortable man alive at the time.
Later in life we got a Class C, the a Class A, and now a 5th wheel. and I LOVE IT!. And now as I look back to that green pup tent I realize that I still hate it.
Camping is what YOU want it to be.

Interesting reply's. I just posted this because I was shocked that not only are tents being made specifically for AC units (some have an extra door like opening for the unit to sit in) but now accessories are being made to pipe the hot air out and leave the unit in the tent. I've never had a problem with folks telling me I don't camp, although many others have reported they have. If I ever did I'd tell them I'm not camping, I'm living, this is my house. On the other hand, with the economy and the heat being what they are, I can understand folks still wanting to be out here and wanting to avoid both the heat and the expense we have. It just kind of freaked me out to see a tent built with an electrical input door on one end and a AC outlet door on the other, a tailgater antenna on the ground outside it and a big screen TV flickering thru the canvas.

Nowadays camping to me is pretty much what I'm doing when I am "enjoying life", now that's camping.
Whether I camp on the sofa at the stickhouse in front of the big flat HD screen with the remote in my hand, or whether I'm on the ground sleeping on granite at 12,000 ft under a starlit sky after trudging for 10 miles, or in the luxury of my RV with the fireplace, A/C and watching some football from the Satellite TV. Camping is everywhere!!! If one thinks they are only camping because they are in a tent at a primitive campground, and then they buy a portable A/C unit for it? Yeah, right!
Camping is so much more relaxing now. Why if you mention to the pioneers that they were camping when they set up their "camps" after a long day in their covered wagon, they's have strung you up. Back then they called it survival!! It's called camping now because it's done with a smile you have other options and unlike the pioneers, you could put up your feet, drink a cold one and NOT do anything if you don't want to! Now THAT'S camping.
Horrors, I think I've just agreed with HamRad!

When we were kids we went camping in the woods. When we were Boy Scouts we went camping . We had a hunting camp in the PA mountains. We called it..the camp.
Our first camper was a pop up.We have always called it camping and yes the Montana is a long way from the Rockey mountain shelters in the Pa nountains. but it is still just a camper.Microwave, air bed, satellite, fireplace, fridge, freezer shower, hot and cold running water and all.. Sure wish we had that stuff in that Rockey Mountain shelter.
