3475 Toppers

I wonder if there is a way to tighten the spring tension on the slide toppers? We took delivery of our new 3475 about a month ago and have it on a pad at our home. Every time it rains,(just a sprinkle)water accumulates on the large slide. The two smaller ones stay flat and dry. We are about an hour each way from the dealer and didn't want to travel that route if I could fix it my self. Thanks.......

Joe,
I think that is normal for the large slide. There is no support in the middle of the slide so it catches water. Some folks have put swimming pool noodles, beach balls, etc., between the slide and the slide topper to keep the water off.

I noticed in the recent Trailer Life that there is new slide topper that has a built in support system to keep the topper tight.

Ours does the same thing. The weight of the water pulls more material off the roller but it also dips in the middle where the water accumulates. Several options have been posted to stop this from happening. I'm considering doing one of those although in three years it's not hurt our toppers even with lots of water and up to ten inches of snow on them.

If you still want to tighten them, check the instructions in the manual for your patio awning. They work the same way. I have not tried it and have heard it's a good idea to have a second set of hands helping to hold the roller as the spring pressure can be nasty. Again, I've not tried it.
