Norcold Service Manual & Diagnostics

We're having problems with our 1210 series refrigerator and in trying to figure out what is wrong, I found this url:

http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/ncold1210.pdf

It shows, among other things, how to put the display into diagnostic mode. One mode displays the cooling fin temperature, as an example.

By the way, there is a recall for the high temperature limit switch, according to Norcold.

I'm rapidly getting frustrated with our 5er...Haven't posted the problems as I try not to be negative, but I'm about ready to call some of the higher ups at Keystone. We purchased this unit just after the market crash when everyone was wondering if there would even be an RV industry and I suspect that the quality suffered tremendously as a result of this period of uncertainty. Just trying to figure out how to get Keystone to recognize this idea as being valid and help us with some of our problems. Any suggestions are welcome.

Bummer buddy, what is the reefer doing? Did you learn anything from the info? What type of problems overall are you having?
Have you tried taking it to a dealer and if so, are they helping?

Initial symptom: loss of cooling.

Based on the above referenced manual, I was able to test and confirm that the thermistor is okay.

I switched the refer to propane mode and based on the diagnostic display, the refer has dropped two degrees in the last hour or so. So,I think it may be an AC heater.

Will let you all know.

Mike, thanks for the manual, it is now residing on my laptop in the reference library. I did get to look through it and wanted to correct a mistake I made in the email. According to the manual the second fin not the third it where the thermistor should be. I could have sworn the tech at the rally said the third but that could have been a senior moment. I have had both problems in the past, too cold (thermistor failure) and too warm (unknown cause) but remedied with a three day run on gas and no thermistor... Dave

I believe you are providing me with validation for the purchase of another extended service plan. I am sure the repair or replacement cost of a fridge will come close to the entire purchase price of the extended service plan. I feel for your troubles, but as always, it is appreciated that you bring them to the MOC's attention if for no other reason than to keep us educated as to what potential pitfalls could await us. Remedies, fixes and repairs are information that is beneficial to all of us as well. Good luck!!

I think the cooling unit went south as the fins are no colder. Even though we bought ice, it looks like we lost a few hundred in food.

Michael-- Did you try contacting Bryant or Norcold? When the rep was at the Fall Rally he told us to contact them if we had problems and they may be able to work things out! I'd give it a try and see what they say! I know it's a 2009 unit but who knows can't hurt to try! Keep us informed.

I don't remember the reps name but maybe Dave(Exnavydiver) will come back and give us his/their name/s! I know Dave had all the reps names that presented their wares at the Rally since he was the Wagonmaster!

Michael my fridge just quit last week so I had to us my cooler and ice. It is no fun when they decide to quit but I ordered a new one on Thursday so hope to get it about Tuesday. I don't like to pay out $1025.00 but is 10 years old and might as well replace it now. Hope you find out what is wrong. If you need to order a new one drop me a line as I saved about $400 plus tax on mine.

Since we are on the topic of Fridges, mine acted up during our last trip. Hopefully someone can help. We have a 2010 3400RL with the double wide Fridge. When I unplugged the power cord there at home, it switched over to propane as normal. Once we got to the RV park, and plugged into the power panel, everything seemed to be fine. However, I had to unplug the cord to make some adjustments. At that time I heard the fridge make an funny sound, but didn't think to much about it. Once the power was plugged back in, we had a nice four days, and the fridge worked as well as expected. However, when it came time to break camp, and I unplugged the power cord, I heard the fridge make that funny sound, and noticed that it did not switch over to propane. And the panel was displaying what I feel was a falure message. It was flashinng between AU and FL, which I think meant Auto then Falure. Any help or advice would be greatfully appreciated....Joe
