Engine Heater Plug on '08 Duramax

I know, why wait until it's -6 deg F to look for the darn heater plug. But I did. I went out tonight to find the plug to plug in the Duramax and couldn't find it. The owner's manual says it's on the driver's side by the power steering reservoir. No could find. Anyone found their's? Just curious. Probably won't need it, but it's going to be -10 tonight and tomorrow night and then -17 Thursday. I've found living in the upper midwest that the prolonged cold tends to have a bigger impact than just one cold shot. Any help is appreciated.

Ron, I have the truck you have but an extended cab. I found my heater plug coiled up on the right side of the engine down near the fuel filter. Very easy to overlook. Kind of hidden.

Jolu -
I found it, thanks to pictures on a Duramax forum. The manual says it's on the driver side, but it is on the passenger side. I can't even blame it on that they didn't know right from left. They specifically called out next to the power steering fill. I have a hard time thinking they are that far off in their manual. They really go out of their way to hide it.

Thanks, that helped me find mine more quickly on this sub-zero morning in Ontario. It was pretty much where you described, more or less under the passenger side battery.

John -
Hope you and Donna are staying nice and warm. Going down to -20 tonight in Wisconsin. I'm taking the car (it's in the garage), so I won't be taking the truck in the a.m. I take the truck when it is going to snow.

As it started to get really cold (for the NW) and snow, I decided to look for my plug too. My owners manual on my 08 GMC was correct in the location, they just didn't say I had to stand on my head to see it. Literally, I had to get a step stool, a good flashlight, and lean way over before I could see it, and even then it took a bit of looking. Then grab the cutters, as they had tie wrapped it very well to a hose. CAREFULLY cutting the tie wrap, I got it loose. Then discovered that it would only reach to the edge of the hood, so off to find an extension cord. But, "once was lost is now found" makes it much easier for future use.
Side note: I also REALLY love the remote start feature and the heated seats. SIGH, life is good.....with the right equipment!
