water heater problem

HELLO everyone. My water heater will not fire up, It worked fine until I awoke this am without hot water. The electronic ignition is clicking and I opened gas line at the tank and I have gas. All my other gas appliances are working fine. I am not sure if it works in electric because I just turned That on. Any suggestions. thanks.

check for dirt/debri/cobwebs around or in the burner tube. Mine would not light and I used a hair dryer on cool setting and blew it around the element and it worked after that. The air did loosen up some rusty debri in the burner.

Did you try the reset on the water heater? Seems one is for electric, one for gas; maybe it tripped.

Here is a thread about this problem from last year. Pay particular attention to the postings by WorkerB. He knows what he is talking about. He provided excellent instructions and a source for the replacement part.
