Problems with Ice Cube Maker

We have the side by side dometic fridge / freezer and have had constant problems since day one (only about 1 1/2 years old) with the ice cube maker. The problem is that the cubes come out together and by the time the bin gets full all the ice is just one big block. Also, a solid block of ice starts to develop on the bottom of the bin and once the bin gets full of ice, there seems to be about a 1 inch sheet of solid ice on the bottom with all the other cubes frozen together.

I've tried adjusting the screw that controls the size of the cube but that didn't seem to work. Also tried turning the temp of the freezer so its colder (now on setting 4 of 5).

Anybody else had this issue? Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

We have the Dometic side by side with ice maker and automatic defrost and it has been a real pain in the backside!! Does your unit have the auto defrost? We think that during the overnight defrost cycle the ice cubes get a little wet and sticky and then freeze together when the freezer turns back on. DW fights with the block of ice that often forms where the drain for the defrost is. She has found that putting some cubes in a 1 gal freezer bag make the frozen lump easier the break up. I'm doing my best at trying to use up as many ice cubes as I can in the evenings! Sorry we don't have a better answer for you, best wishes, Jay and Kathy
