Gail's retirement

Some of you may remember that some time back, I posted that Gail is retiring from Reith-Riley Construction Co, INC after 44 years of service. This was originally set-up for June 28th being her last day.

Over the last couple weeks, things have been crazy and she now is retiring on May 24th. One Month ahead of schedule. YIPEE!!!!!

So, we have decided that we are going up to Door County at the end of June before all our vegetables start needing harvest off the dirt patch out back.

Need to get a new fireplace for the old Challenger, do a couple of other clean-up projects and she will be ready to go.

Had the wheel bearings repacked last year along with 3500 lb spring packs and wet-bolt kits. Can't wait to tow this thing and see how those are gonna' work out!!

Life is good!

Congratulations to you both! And keep us informed of your location. It's been a very long time since we've seen you two!

Coming from California, we were amazed by Door County. Heck we never even heard of it. But we loved it so much, we're hoping to make it back there this summer with our new Monte.

I know you'll love retirement, I've been retired 3½ years and it has been the best time of my life. We've gotten to see so much of this country in that time with our previous Keystone Outback, but now we're going to go back in style with our 2013 343RL.

Since we are in our new house and retirement financial issues to get use to, Gail is going to play things a little slow until she fully understands what is happening. I keep telling her that we have nothing to be worried about but, until the 1st year is over, she'll have a better grasp.

Heck, I'll get a monthly raise here in August because, that is when I'll be collecting SS checks. At least for awhile.

Wonderful. Tell Gail to get ready to enjoy being the master of her own time.

Congratulations, after my first two weeks of retirement, I can say it is great. Hope you get to do plenty of traveling with your new found freedom. If you get to Colorado, please stop in for a spell.

Ron and Paul, both of those ideas are good ones! May not be this year but, could be in the future. Because, I have always wanted to see Yellowstone. I would just need to go a mile and a quarter north from the house here, turn left, stop in Nebraska, go to Colorado then, turn right. How easy would that be?!?!? Sorta' sounds like a 2014 trip just came to light in the back of my mind. (Maybe by then, in our brand spankin' new Montana!!) Wheels are turning!

Dale, we are so happy for Gale's retirement. Now, she should talk to some other women to see how they have managed to keep their husbands in line, lol! As for that new Montana, well, you would look great in one. We would love to see you guys any time, not just at rallys.

Well, 5 working days to go! She says she is SO ready to get out of there!! Now, gotta' get busy and get the plans made for the trip to Door County that we have been wanting to take for the last 4 or, 5 years!

Yesterday, her, her sister and I started making plans to have a retirement party for family and friends at our new house. Don't have the date set yet. We want to set the date for some of the family to be able to come in from out of town. Perhaps, we'll be able to hit a date when any of you folks might be close by! Hear what I'm sayin'?

Well, Gail is retired! Friday was of course, her last day of work! We spent a great weekend at Twin Mills. Weather was a little cool but, it was nice. If the weather wasn't cool and rainy today......we'd still most likely be there.

We are planning our road trip to end up in Door County, WI in exactly one month. Finished testing everything this weekend in the 5th wheel. All is good! Except, when the freshwater pump runs, we have the "jackhammer" syndrome! So, over the next two or 3 weeks, going in behind the basement wall and fix that racket, get the new fireplace installed and get her washed from top to bottom and she'll be ready to go!

Congratulations to you and Gail. With our first month in, I clearly understand what everyone has been saying about retirement. We hope you and Gail have as good of first month as Terrie and I.

Dave and Gail, enjoy your retirement! The hardest part for me was to learn to slow down. For example, our upcoming "trip" starting tomorrow covers just short of 2,000 miles to get close to a couple of granddaughters for upcoming birthdays and spoiling. It take us 21 days to cover that 2,000 miles! We'll enjoy every day of it. Stay in touch and hopefully we will be able to get together again before too long.

Well, got our plans confirmed. Leaving Indiana on Monday, June 24th and going up to Lake Leelanau for 3 days. Then, on Thursday the 27th, we head to Mackinaw City and cross that big bridge into the UP, down into Escanaba and on down to Green Bay, WI. Then, we turn left and go up to Bailey's Harbor for 4 days. Back home on July 2nd and we start to think about where we want to go next.

Man!! It's a tough job but, somebody has to do it.
