1st time spring start up.

This will be our first spring start up in our Montana purchased new last year. 1st camper for us. Dealer had everything ready to go when we picked it up and we did spend a night in dealers lot to make sure everything worked and they did go through every thing with us.

My question is last weekend we were up to camper for a little bit checking things out and I did hook up to electricity, it was cold outside, 20 degrees, and when I turned furnace on it ran for a couple of minutes and shut down. I turned the furnace off and on and it did the same thing again.

This weekend we plan on going up to clean and set up for the season, suppose to be in the 50's. I guess I was thinking that the furnace was electric and was suprised that it shut down. Hopefully I will be able to locate manuals and get furnace running right.

Any helpful start up tips would be appreciated.

The battery could be marginal, it pulls around 6 amps when running.
Did it try to run a few times, or just run then shut down?
You should check it out, check the battery water in it.

I may be thinking too basic ... you did turn the propane on very slowly and have the lever on the regulator pointing the right way? If you turn the bottles on fast sometimes the excess flow valve in them pops shut.

Before trying to run the furnace, make sure the propane has been turned on (very slowly as mentioned by Dieselguy) then turn on a burner on the stove top and get it to light. Once you get a good flame from the stove (purges the air from the line) you can turn that burner off and try the furnace again.

If it doesn't work after trying the above suggestions, might be a sail switch. In 4 years I have changed out mine twice. Hope it all works out for you.

Propane in the tank?

Don't worry you'll get used to it, and the folks here will help, but RVing is a whole different lifestyle and things don't work the same as they do in your stick house.

Sounds like I need to turn propane on and make sure there is propane. Didn't use furnace last year at all and I was thinking it was electric. I will have to dig manuals out this weekend when we open unit up.

we picked up unit in March of last year it was warmer so we never used furnace but gave the 2 air conditioning units a run for their money last summer.
