Should I try 303 on decals

I am leaning towards starting to use 303 protectant on our Montana decals. Having been down the replacement road with our previous model and seeing some postings of members who have had success with this has me strongly considering it. I use the 303 on the seats and other areas of our boat and it seems to work well at protecting the vinyl as I can see no real sun damage after doing this for over four years. What sayeth thee, oh the sages of the MOC? Success stories with 303? Any known failure issues with it?

Hi Bingo. That's what I'm doing. Our previous SOB had the same issues as some of the Montana's and I had been waxing the graphics. I'll be waxing around the decals on the Monty until there's information from Keystone or their current graphics supplier that waxing them is recommended. After seeing pro's and con's from others regarding this, I'm wondering if the specific contents in a wax or polish is the issue. Maybe some products are actually beneficial. I trust that 303 won't harm them.

Bingo,
I have always used Turtle Wax Protectant with SUNBLOCKER on my decals. When I sold the 2001 Montana year before last the decals looked just like they did when I bought it new. I now use it on the Big Sky and they still look new.

I do my air conditioner covers, skylights, vents, decals, tonneau cover, slide seals, tires, and anything else vinyl or plastic. It's good stuff.

I've used 303 on everything from roof, A/C covers , vents, decals, and tires for several years ... works good lasts 2-3 months per application. I don't use it on the commode ... too slippery for that particular application ... LOL Considerably cheaper by the gallon if you use it like I do.

This stuff sounds pretty good. Says you can use it on the gelcoat to restore color and shine too.

It does work well, but application on the fiver sides is hard to keep from streaking even with a microfiber towel. I can be done, but it's not like the Karate Kid's "wax on wax off" ... you have to work at it.

Just had my front and right side decals replaced yesterday. After they finished I spent the next hour or so putting on a product called ShineOn:
http://shineononline.com/

This will hopefully protect the decals and it certainly brought back the shine to the gelcoat.

Geezer - where did you get replacement decals? I thought they weren't being produced anymore?
Thanks.
p.s. I have the same issue - need front and left side only.

I have been using Mothers Carnuba wax for years on decals. My decals on my 10 yr old motorhome looked brand new after using Mothers on all of the motorhome. The Monty after 4 yrs of using it still looked new. Now the SOB is 2 yrs old and they still look like brand new. One thing to keep in mind, I hand wax mine at least 2 times a yr. Usually in the spring and fall.

We live in salt and sand. 303 restored our gelcoat. We just replaced all our mountains on the 5th wheel, and 303'd them. Hopefully it will prevent peeling for a while. If you go to the 303 website, they recommend the application as well. It also helps with the bug removal when you pull in. Now we can just wipe them off...

I am interested in knowing how much 303 you would use on a 35' Mountaineer for a typical application?

303 goes a lomg way. We bought a gallon, but you could easily get a quart to try. The first time you put it on, I applied it liberally, but managed to do the 4 sides with one cup roughly. I put it on on and let it sit for awhile. then I added some more and becomae the karate kid..lol...wipe on, wipe off. It will polish and shine the gel coat with out too much effort. After that, the places that were still hazy, i added some more. Now my bugs ust wipe off when we come off the road. I add to it with a light coat about everly 5=6 weeks with a moicrofiber pole. It seems to do the trick...hope it works for you...

All I did was to cover all the decals and any exposed plastic vents. Took about two hours and as mentioned previously, it will streak the gel-coat. After a while, I finally learned and started to apply the 303 directly on to the micro-fiber rag and then apply it to the decals. I will do this twice a year going forward and will see over the next couple of years if it protects the decals. I do plan on getting some of the Croftgate cleaners, but in the meantime relied on the ever-effective Simple Green to remove the black streaks. It did not affect the shiny finish. I wrapped everything up with a couple of applications of Turtle Wax Ice to the non-decal portions of the front cap. The rig is in it's final stage of cleaning for the summer now! And I am still sore!!
