Storage Under Bed Slide
Has anyone converted the area under the bed to make additional storage? In our last SOB there was alot deeper area under the bed slide than what is in our new rig. Right now we are lucky to get a few layers of sheets, etc. under the bed and oh yes the "safe".
Does anyone have pictures of what the bed slide looks like under the plywood shelf where the "safe" sits? How deep is it to the slide mechanism?
Les

Les, there have been numerous posts previously about mods that have been done on the area under the bed. You might want to check under the Search Engine and see if you can locate them. Some have removed the board and hinged it to put things under it and numerous other ideas and mods to that area. I'm sure there will be more posts coming on this!

Bigboomer, not familiar with your model Montana, but on our 3400, I took that board up under the bed to see if there would be more storage room under there. What I discovered was the hydraulic cylinder for the slideout and all the hoses were under that board. So, I simply put the board back in place and forgot about it. There is NO room, at least under our board anyway. Oh, I suppose you could store a few small things in there, but if the hydraulic line ever blew......!

Here's what we did:

It's been over 2 and a half years with no problems. If the hydraulic was to break, the sheet metal will protect our belongings.
