Cannot open bed on sofa
We are preparing our 2014 3155RL for full-timing. Although we have had our rig for six months, we had never thought to fully open our sofa bed. We just discovered there isn't enough clearance to do so! I called our terrific service adviser who hadn't heard of this issue. The factory informed her that they were aware of the problem. I re-positioned the sofa and recliners which "solves" the problem and are awaiting a resolution from our dealer. Another lesson learned for these beginning RV'ers!

We have to move the recliners closer to the wall to open the sofa bed. Guess I never considered it a design flaw or service issue.
Guess I should have looked at your floor plan before responding. On mine I had to push the sofa and recliners closer to the opposite walls. If your's is hitting the island I agree it is a design/service issue.

I'd be heading back to the dealer and tell them to figure it out by putting in a different sized sofa/sleeper or they can keep it and GIVE you another one that will work. Apparently they intentionally did not show you this problem on your initial walk through or pre-delivery session. There would be no way I'd be keeping the unit especially if you are going full time with it and you know you will be hosting company when that happens!

We purchased our first monty 2014 3155rl on november 1st. Weather got could and havent used it. Our Dealer had 2 signs up in unit one on couch and one on island stating that to open Sofa Bed you must pull the right side (front) of couch away from wall 2 to 3 " to extend bed. We tried it 3 times before we decided on unit worked ok each time.
Hope you all have good day. (first time doing this hope it is ok)

Once again, a rig designed by someone who never tried to use it.

Agree with you dick, but I don't know if there is a design team...person...or what that does some of these strange "design features" in our montys...orare they "opportunities" for the new owners to correct? On our 3800re, the sofa/hidden bed is a rocking design due to no support for front legs. I added a half inch wood block under each leg, but have to remember to remove it before operating slide. Then there is the doors on the entertainment center that allow you access into where the home theater is located...one must sit on the couch and try to reach into the crack created when you open the doors. Want to really get into that area? Move the couch...or do what I did. I removed the two hinges on the left door and then added three hinges to the other side of that door and the right side door so that a bifold door is formed as an end result. Now I can reach in, remove units, and do what I want. One would have thought that the montana folks would have figured that out. John

Lots of things resulting from folks who build without RV experience. Frameless windows, less breeze. Our 2002 had to bring in the slide too operate the awning. On and on.
