Q for EVDOalex...

We recently received an email from Verizon Wireless concerning the New UM175 USB Modem.
We currently have the USB720 with the Cradle Point PHS300 and are happy but if there is somethong better we maybe interested.

My questions---
  • Is the USB175 as good or better than the USB720?
  • Is the USB175 compatible with the CP PHS300?

Hey Glenn, I'm not Alex but I'm sure he will be along shortly... Neat/sharp guy by the way. We met him at the Good Sam Rally this year in Albuquerque..

We have the USB 175 that we upgraded to earlier and use it in our Cradlepoint. We had the 720 before but really don't see lot off difference with the 175. The 175 has already been replaced with a new one so you will want to wait to hear from Alex.

if by "better" you mean faster... then no. but it is smaller/cuter?
yes the um175 works great with all cradlepoint routers.

one thing to mention: your existing contract with USB720 is probably NOT subject to any overage charges. accept that UM175 as an upgrade and Verizon will renew your contract for 2 years AND expose you to overage charges.

if i were you, that alone is reason enough NOT to upgrade to UM175.
