Great Internet

I posted about the evo phone and pdanet for hookup on another thread. Well, I got the setup and arrived in NY late yesterday...this morning, I fired up the coffee pot then turned on the computer and hooked it up to my evo. Turned on pdanet, and before I had 1/2 pot of coffee brewed I had a fast internet connection...matter of fact, I'm still waiting for my coffee and I'm typing this !
I gotta say, for only adding 10 bucks to my cell bill and getting unlimited internet I'm one happy camper !

With the proper phone, and unlimited data plan, you can buy software to tether the phone to the computer....without an additional monthly fee. I get DSL type speeds using our Sprint service.

I have sprint, evo phone with 4g which is why I pay the extra ten bucks on my plan...but I have unlimited usage, so it's sure worth it to me.

SlickWillie,
Would you tell us more about the proper phone and the software you mention. You got my attention and inquiring minds need to know.
Thanks in advance.
Joe

On Edit: Wild Horse I meant to ask you but I got to quick with the post.
The unlimited usage you mention, is that the data usage you are referring to?
We need to do something and this subject is very interesting to me.

Well I took our latest communication device out for a test drive. We recently obtained the Verizon MiFi. We live in Bakersfield and we drove up I-5 a hundred miles or so. Hooked up the system as we left town and it worked the entire distance and had a good strong signal. I realize the test was very limited but I'm encouraged by what I've seen so far.

The MiFi system is somewhat easier to use than the aircard setup. You can run it through a USB port or just run it via the WiFi program. I like to have my USB ports free so I run it via my WiFi program. You can connect up to 5 devices to the MiFi card. As long as it continues to perform as it has so far I think we've got a keeper.

I, too, just purchased the Verizon mi-fi system. So far, so good. Easy to set up.

Judy,
I'm particularly interested in coverage. What part of the country are you in? Thanks.
Dennis

Joe, yes that's my data plan. Basically with our discount we were paying 120 a month for both phones, unlimited data and 1500 minutes of calls...add 10 bucks for the new evo, downloaded pdanet and we are up and running. It will even work will driving down the road.
