Traveling in Louisiana

Our Good Sam Club is traveling from San Antonio to Vidalia in March. We are exploring various routes in Louisiana and would appreciate any help on road conditions. We are specifically interested in route 28 from Leesville through Alexandria on over to Vidalia.

Vidalia, LA? Can't imagine anyone going there. I haven't traveled Hwy 28 from Leesville in some time, but 28 from Pineville over to US 84 is pretty good. I grew up in Jena, LA,and we go back frequently to visit cemeteries there. We usually stay at the casino in Marksville, and drive over to Jena. If I were traveling from San Antonio, I would go I10 to I49, north to Alexandria, exit Pineville Expressway, then Hwy 28 over to US 84. US 84 goes right through Ferriday to Vidalia. Have fun!

Probably too far north but I49 south out of Shreveport is one rough interstate.
