Legacy LED tail lights

Has anyone upgraded the tail/brake and backup lights on a legacy edition to LED's?

They are not the usual 4" grommet lights. I see two options:

1. Replace the entire light with the grommet style, but I have not removed one to measure the hole and see if that will work.

2. Replace the bulb. I'm looking for someone who has tried these bulbs and tell me if they are an improvement. On the tail/brake, is there a good difference between the brightness when the brakes come on?

I'll also replace the clearance lights with LED's. Hard to believe a unit in this price range does not have LED's.
