I have a 2016 chevy 3500 DRW 4 door 8 foot bed. My trailer is a MONTANA 3791RD. I have 40k on the truck now and the front tires are shot. The back 4 are fine. I need to buy new tires and I like the Michelins on there but dang 40K isn't a lot of miles, and honestly they were probably in need of replacement 5K ago. I've looked at the brands on all the sites, lots of choices, comes down to money and how you drive.
PS What have other GM owners with duallys encountered for tire rotation issues at their dealership. My truck came with the standard (at the time) 3 or 4 oil changes and two tire rotations....my dealer told me they dont rotate the tires on duallys....comments...

2014 Chevy 3500 dually switched to Coopers

My 3500 dually duramax came with Michelins. They rode nice and were quiet on the road, but only lasted 33,000 miles. A lot of my driving is around town; stop & go, and a lot of turns. I also tow a Monty 3100rl for about 5,000 miles each year. My trusted mechanic recommended Cooper Discoverer HT3. They ride as well and as quietly as the michelins, and were a little cheaper at about $200 each installed. I have 40k on them so far. The rears are fine. The fronts have maybe another 10k left on them. I'm very happy with them.

As far as rotation, I have the aluminum wheels so to rotate the tires, it requires dismounting and remounting & balancing each tire. The truck came with 24 months free tire rotation. I thought I'd give it a try but after the hissy-fit I overheard the tech throw, I told the dealer to never mind. I don't trust any of the grunts that get charged with this task to make sure the correct tire moves to the correct spot, so I just replace the tires when they wear out. Years ago, I learned the hard way that if they swap them to the wrong side, the tread is toast in a few thousand miles.

That's a good looking truck!

I have not run anything on my 2006 Ford F250 but Michelin Defenders since the OEM tires. Would not consider anything else. I have never even had a flat in all these years. I change them at 50,000 miles.

Use to run Michelin tires on my 2007 3500, but due to expense of the current Michelins I went with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires. Haven't put enough miles on truck to form an opinion yet. No complaints so far with only 6,000 miles.

About 4 years ago I put Cooper Dicoverer A/Ts on. Loved them, except in the mud. They had 45k miles on them when my tire guy talked me into the new Cooper Dicoverer AT3 XLTs. I thought the old Coopers were quiet, the new ones make the others seem loud. Cooper Dicoverer AT3 XLT have my vote.

I am on my 3rd set of Michelin tires, 1st set to replace stock Generals at 60 k. Now have 408k on my Ram with 106k on current Michelins, but I do need to replace the front two because I only rotated them twice. I was a hauler also. Can't beat the Michelins.

When I went to replace my tires I tried to get continental terrain contact a/t's as consumer reports rated then number one in their testing and also noted them to be fairly quiet. The tire place I used in florida brought a set in from the warehouse, but they were already two years old out of 4 spec'd by continuing and the tire company didn't want to reduce their price. So I put on the michelin defender ltx m/s tires on. Super quiet, but I find them to be a little less stable in steering than the all Terran tires I removed.

We seem to be stuck on the Michelins ,Coopers etc. Many discounted the Sailun as an RV tire until now, now many run them. Much better track record then the Goodyears .

Anyway, good friend is running the Sailun Terramax on his Ford 350, very happy with them. I am currently running the Toyo AT2, seems to be wearing average, probably get 40-45K out of them. Definitely going to the Sailun when the time comes.

So far so good on Sailuns, have a bunch of seasonal campers to move this week end, will give them a good work out, some campers are in rough & muddy sites.

Some people would avoid the Sailuns just because they are a Chinese company. Many tire companies are sourcing tires from there, including Cooper. Knowing what I know about the Chinese and how they deal with America, stealing our patents and devaluing their currency I'll stick with a manufacturer that is not our economic enemy.

I wanted to replace 2 of my Michelin tires only to discover that they are no longer made and I could not find them anywhere locally or online.

The Michelin LTX MS2 235/80/17,s are no longer made as of April 2019.

I replaced all 7 with Cooper Discoverer HT3 235/80/17 $1300 installed

Just sold the 7 Michelins for $650 on craigslist yesterday.

So it cost me $650 for 7 new tires. I can live with that.

Good advice, why change while the Michelins are still good? However, IMHO, Michelins are over rated and over priced...had a set wear out way before they should have.

Replacement for the LTX MS2 is the Michelin Defender. Equally as good.

Have a 2006 truck and have never run anything but Michelins. Always get more than the rated miles. They are definitely worth the hype and ratings. Sorry TLightning had a bad experience.

My 7 year old Firestone Transforce TA just had one tire fail. Searched around and decided on the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Only have a few miles on them but they are nice and quiet and handle well in the current rain we are experiencing.

Michelin makes a good tire but I don't think they are worth the extra $$. In the past I have had about a dozen LTX MS2s develop bad cracks that I could not live with. Michelin adjusted them and the new ones cracked up within a few years.

If anybody is a member of FMCA, they now accept all RVers, they have discounts with Michelin, Hankook and Continental.
