Training slide out seals
Our new 2980 has a leak in the bedroom slide. I've done several searches in order to get as much information as I can to try to solve the problem. If necessary I'll take it back to my dealer, but he's a couple hundred miles away so I'd rather just do it myself.
I've read that Montana has put out a bulletin that it's necessary to train the outer seals so that they assume the proper position when the slide out is extended. What I haven't read is the proper orientation the seals should be in with the slide extended. I imagine that the free edge of the seal should face outward with the slide extended - BUT - I hate to make assumptions.
I've also read of individuals caulking a certain area. Unfortunately (no doubt due to my limited comprehension) I remain unsure of the specific area they are referring to.
BTW the leak wetting the carpet on the left side of the bed slide as you look from inside.
If someone could supply specifics for these questions it would be deeply appreciated.
BTWW Great site. My compliments to the moderators and site coordinator.
Thank you in advance,
Gary

Gary,
I'll try to explain what fixed mine. I also had wet carpet at the head of the bed, left side facing the bed. Go outside and face the side of the slide on that side of the bed. Near the bottom you will see a piece of trim that goes from your left to the right, past the rubber seal. This trim is metal with a strip of vinyl over it. I figured maybe water was getting behind the vinyl and running right back behind the seal so I pulled the vinyl loose a little and squirted a big gob of silicone in there right about where the seal is. This took care of it for me.
Hope this helps.

I would reccomend getting slide seal lube. It's a spray from CW or another rv store. It has helped with getting mine to be in the right position. It also protects them like an Armor All.
