We had a 2015 3610 model, 3 cooling units in 2 years. We feel your pain.
Now have 3721 with residential. Can't see us ever going back. JMHO.

Yup, it has been done a lot. A Search on "replace refrig" will uncover a number of postings. Here are a few

Residential

Replaced ours this fall . We have 2011 3665RE. Bought a Samsung french door and it fit like a glove. Only thing to watch was freezer handle when slide came in against island but just took out top island drawer when closing slide and end of problem. Wished I had done it years ago.

Oldblue... we did the same remodel. The freezer door handle we just turned it upside down and the little allen screws are not noticeable but on top. We take the handle off the freezer instead of the drawer. Much easier. 2 little screws.

Jerkyguy.. we love the residental. Did the Samsung residential. Fit well. Had to take out the door under the 4 door but fit well with no adjustment to the wood. We did not do any inverter. We decided we try it without because we never dry camp. Closed up traveling it stays pretty cold. We still have ice not melting in freezer 12 hrs. Normally we never travel that long in one day but happen to once and refrigerator held up fine.

Had my Samsung three years now. Last year it ran continuously for three months towing (over 8,000 miles) and camping. Will do the same this year for two months. Have not had any problems, but thanks for the fire scare.
