Went to our dealer to take delivery on our 2005 Monty 3475. Went through the check-out, did the paper work, came back to hook up and then it happened. As the slides were being retracted all of a sudden they stopped. Seems the 12 volt system was dead. Upon inspection the tech person found the invertor was "fried". Had to order one to be shipped in tomorrow (3/18/05). My question, has anyone experienced this? or can anyone guess what might have caused the problem? Thanks

Too many variables as to the cause, it's just one of those unfortunate failures that occurs with man made stuff. Fortunately it happened while still at the dealer and not in some campground 2 - 300 miles down the road.

We are very happy with our Mountaineer TT, however, having had ours delivered with the main battery cable squeezed between the frame and floor and shorting out after 2000 miles on the road, I would be very suspicious of the problem. It may have been a bad inverter and replacing it may be all that is needed, but I would be certain they trace all the wires going to the slide motors, and would run the slides in and out a number of times until you are satisfied it isn't related to a shorting wire or some such thing. I personally would not take it off the lot until your dealer has thoroughly check out all electrical systems and can assure you that they found the cause of the problem. Just my opinion and I am not an electrical expert.

Good advice from Don about having them check the electrical system thoroughly by trying different circuits out to see if the new inverter fails also. Sometimes the problem is not the problem. It is the symptom. Congratulations on your new pull toy.
