I NEED HELP

I need help from someone. I live in the Toronto area, my Montana 3400 is in Longs SC close to North Myrtle Beach stored at Willowtree Resort. My husband Colin passed away suddenly on the 19th April and I need to get the 5th wheel home. The main problem is it has a Slider Hitch. Does anyone know of a reliable insured person who could tow the 5er back to Canada and what it would be likely to cost. Thanks for your help. Please Email me at dianaduddridge@rogers.com Thanks Diana

Diana,

We are sorry to hear of your loss. That has to be very traumatic.

Getting your trailer home sounds like a great job for MOCTAP. I know there have been a couple of threads regarding this very subject. You might post there if you haven't already.

Diana - We are shocked and saddened to hear of your beloved Colin's passing. We shall always remember his kindness, smiling face and intellect. We have fond memories of our first Montana Rally and felt so lucky to have you parked behind us.Colin was so kind to pass along his Dan Brown book, "Angels and Demons" and I so enjoyed our book discussions. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to you and family during this difficult time. May you find comfort in your many happy memories. God bless .......

We are across the pond near Cleveland Ohio. We would be more that happy to help in some sort of a shuttle from S.C to within a couple of hundred miles from here. Don't know what it would take to get a rig that is not USA owned over the border but perhaps a Canadian can come across and pick it up?? Come on guys maybe we can get it up here in 100 mile or so leaps like the pony express. I don't understand the slider hitch part..We have a standard 16K draw tite hitch???

What part of Canada and what route would the rig be going?

Probably need to get it to one of the Buffalo/Niagara crossing points. I would gladly take it from the border to Whitby which is just east of Toronto, Ontario. The problem seems to be that they have a Pullright type of hitch on the unit that I think needs a specially equipped truck to pull it.

Any Pullright owners out there know what it would take to pull this rig?

Does that mean that I would not be able to pull it with my 16K draw tite???

Where is the truck that they pulled it with? Maybe you can drive it and have someone shuttle along to bring you back. Just a thought.

If the 5thW is equipped with a Pull-Rite Super slider, they make an adapter plate that bolts on so it can be towed with a regular 5thW hitch. Some dealers have these around so they can move 5thw's that have this type of hitch. MIGHT BORROW ONE TO GET THE UNIT HOME.

I feel the same John.

Surely there are enough MOC'ers that can help.

With 8000+ of us on this forum, 25 Cents from each would more than pay for someone to take her 5er to her. But that should not be necessary if those on a line would pitch in and drive 100 miles or a little more or less.

If getting the unit from Myrtle to WV would help, I might know someone to get it that far. Kerry

We are currently in Washington state on our way to Alaska so cannot physically help out but are willing to make a financial contribution if that could help in some way.

Diana, we are so sorry to hear of your loss.
