PSI Vs. Load rating

I know this has probably been answered somewhere. i ordered sailun S637 235-80-16 tires. My 2013 Moutaineer rims only have a 3750LB load rating stamped on the inside of them with no PSI call out, The problem im having is to what PSI is a load rating of 3750? I have seen charts go to 3750 LBS at 110 PSI but not on the sailun load chart on the web. i would like to know what psi should i take the current rims too which had E rated trailer kings on them and be safe with the new tires.

If you don’t have the max pressure stamped on the back of the wheel I would put 80 pounds in the tires. If you have 110 pound wheels I would put 110 pounds of air in the tires. I don’t know any reason not to.

Some people like to run their tires at max pressure listed on sidewall … I'm not in that mindset. It just makes for a rougher ride in many cases. Get your RV weighed and then grab a load inflation chart for your brand of tire or call the manufacturer for that brand. Find the recommended pressure for your weight and use it. Unless you full time and travel with everything you've owned since birth ... you may find the scales tell a different story than the max load stamped on your wheels. Remember your pin weight or what is setting on your front landing gear lessens the weight your axles carry.

The Goodyear G614's are a 3750 tire@ 110 psi, same as the Sailuns at one time. Although the Sailuns you bought are 4080 now@ 110 psi. I suspect your rims are 110psi rated, but I don't know for sure, maybe the manufacturer of the rims could tell you.

I believe the ST tires that you mentioned were rated at 3500 @ 80 psi, the Trailer Kings ??

Tireco - 16" - 8H Alum Spk T02 C. That is the code i found on trexwood site and it looks like my current rim. Is tireco a manufacture of rims.

Two things I found out about TO2 aluminum wheels, one they are pressure dependent on the valve stem, but you need metal valve stems for sure that are rated for 110 psi. Second on one website the specs were 3750 @ 110 psi.

IMO you are good to go, but I would still check with Tireco, to be sure, plus its doubtful your fifth wheel is heavy enough on the axles to have to run 110 psi for the weight rating you have on those Sailuns @ 4080 per tire. I run mine 95-100 psi.

I found the rim on the tire co website and its a Sendel rim T2 and 3750 is 110 PSI. Thanks for the help all. I know i wont inflate the tires to 110 PSI as that will probably be too stiff but I dont have to worry that the wheel wont hold the PSI.

Great, I just got thru looking at several T02 rims, all were 110 psi in the 16" 8 lug.

Enjoy those Sailuns, arguably the best G rated trailer tire on the market.

Your wheel rating at 3750lbs is odd, I believe, because that puts it somewhere between E-rated and G-rated. I'm assuming, however, that your wheels are adequate for your load. In that case, according to the Sailun chart, your psi could be higher than 80 or 3420lbs, but since your wheel is not rated for 110psi or 4080 lbs, I'm thinking 95psi is the max for those wheels.

In-between weight ratings ???? Goodyear G614's are 3750 @ 110 psi. Further checking T02 Aluminum rims 16 x 6 8 lug are rated for 3750 @ 110 psi. The fact his rims are rated for 110 psi, regardless of what the tire will give him in weight rating.

If he bought G614's ,and inflated them to 110 psi his weight rating will be 3750, but he bought Sailun S637 if he inflates them to 110 psi his weight rating will be 4080. Still 110 psi on the rims. I agree he will only need to inflate to 95-100, but if he wants he can certainly go to 110 psi ,as his rims ARE rated for that.

Does he want to load the fifth wheel to 4080 that the tires are rated for, no his wheels will be overloaded they are only rated for 3750 , but to achieve that rating on the Goodyears 3750 he would go 110 psi, and his wheels ARE rated for that pressure, AND weight

I want to thank all involved as its a huge load off my back on that. Next question is I need high pressure valve stems. Does any one have any recommendations on that, as in brand, type or where you got them and most important what brand to stay away from because of junk manufacturing.
Again thanks for the Information.

Right, that's why I said "I believe," because I didn't know what wheels he actually had. I would be remiss had I made a recommendation to go to 110psi if his wheels couldn't handle it. So, as you've stated, it appears his wheels can handle G-rated tires at 110psi. OTOH, he could run at a lower psi if his load is not maxxed out, or choose to run at max tire rating, 110psi, as some folks do. The OP also asked about metal valve stems, to which the answer is yes.

If you have wheels similar to mine … they will have a small valve stem recess hole bored in the rim. I'm not talking about the valve stem hole itself … the recess hole in the aluminum rim that the valve stem sticks out of. My hole diameter was too small for the traditional metal stems that have a nut on both sides of the rim. I had to go with the Enkei style metal valve stems that have the nuts both on the inside of the rim. This is just a link to see the design I'm talking about … you'll have to know your hole diameter in the rim for your current valve stems before you get metal ones. Either .453" or .625"
