Welcome to Colorado. As far as the route, you
HAVE to come in from the north on highway 67 from Divide, west of Colorado Springs on highway 24.
DO NOT try to come in from the south via Canon City! It would be a tight squeeze for the Monty as shown below

The south road still uses the old railroad tunnels and is gravel.
There are only a couple of campgrounds in the town, neither are 5 star, maybe not even 2 star, but the Eagles Landing RV park has full hookups and is within walking distance to the Casinos

If you don't mind staying a little ways out of town, Meuller State Park is north of Cripple Creek up by Divide (electric only) and is the highest rated state park in Colorado. It's about a 20 minute drive to Cripple Creek.
