Every Little Bit Helps with Your A/C

Others have mentioned doing this, but I was working on a fiver that needed that little bit of help, so I snapped a couple of photos. Remove the screws from the bonnet and the 4 lag bolts from inside the A/C pan. The roof unit will tilt to one side wire length allowing. Whoever on the assembly line taped up the return and supply duct cutouts beneath the A/C unit to seal them from the attic space might as well not bothered. I added to the OEM aluminum tape as shown to make it actually seal. Before I lagged it back to the roof ... I checked the divider between the return and supply air to be sure it was in place properly for sealing between the two as well. In this case ... it made a 4 degree difference in supply air temp by not sucking and blowing a bit of air from and into the attic space

Thanks for the picture. You do not need to be very far off to allow the supply and return air to mix. Did you need a new gasket when you remounted it?

No new gasket for either seal ... unit was only 7 months out of the factory. If you look close on the first photo, the gasket between the supply and return is just left of the ID tag on bottom of A/C pan.

I had trouble with my rear unit a Brisk 2 when it was new. The supply to return temp was a little low. Keystone authorized the dealer to remove and inspect the seal. The dealer reported it was fine? However when he retested the temperature it now was fine and I also tested it at almost 27 degrees. Owner relations guessed that the dealer inadvertently fixed it. I was wondering what it looked like if I ever needed to check it myself as it is now out of warranty. Your needed better taping comment bothers me and maybe I will try to fish a video camera up the ducting.
