Removing and reinstalling batteries - How?
I use two 6 volt batteries as my coach batteries. I removed them this fall to store and charge them in my garage at home. I had a hard time getting them out of the battery storage compartment (those suckers are heavy!! ) I'm not looking forward to putting them back in.
If you remove/reinstall yours, how do you do it

When I installed my batteries they had tabs at each end, but did not have anything to lift with. I attached a piece of line through each hole in the tabs to lift the batteries in and out(see photo).

I have an old time battery picker upper. It is a hardened rubber strap with a slip connector on each end that fits over the terminals. It makes nice lifting/carrying strap.

If they are Golf Cart Batteries like in Pic above you can purchase a very inxpensive srap that will hook on the holes in the ears. When I purchased my used golf Cart they gave me on of those straps Also you can purchase at a Parts Store a battery lifting tool that looks like an Old fashion Ice tongs

I was going to suggest something similar to kdeiss post. A flat web strap about 1" wide.

My new 6 volt GC batteries were too heavy for me to pick straight up while bent over under the front hitch area, so I welded up a small swinging crane that winds up with my power drill. Put enough cable on it to let the battery down to the ground when I swing it out of the front compartment. Don't need it often, but I only have one back. Here's a link to a picture. http://cid-a673f2d3b1d06efb.photos.l...s/P1010082.JPG

Jay,
Like kdeiss mentions there is a strap you can pick up at a battery store used for picking batteries up. It hooks into the end of the battery in those slots and makes the chore easier.

I hate to admit it, but I pay a neighbors teenager $20 to do it. This includes the time to get to and from the local storage area. I do like the idea of the crane built by 2forHim and I'll probably have to have something like that when the neighbors teen moves on.

That's the idea I have.
My back won't tolerate the strain. I've even considered some kind of lightweight hoist but have been unable to find anything reasonably priced that I can buy ready made.

I have a small table that is the same height as the front compartment. I unload a battery from the truck to the table, then slide it off and over to the compartment. Did it with all 6 batteries and it wasn't too bad. Very little pressure on my back. My father was a master at making hard things easy, I am a lazy-minded person and anything I can do to make a chore easier, I do it.
