Cracked Rims--Tredit Comes Through!

Last Friday, as we prepared to leave the Matagorda Nature Center RV Park in Matagorda, Texas (on the coast), we discovered we had 3 cracked wheels on our rig. One was badly cracked; the other two had the beginnings of fairly extensive cracking. We always check our tires and wheels when we stop for fuel (especially after reading all the cracked rim/blowout posts on the forum), so we know everything was fine at the last stop prior to arriving at the campground.

There we were, on a Friday afternoon at 3:15, thirty miles from a tire center and without internet access at the campground, facing a big problem. I called Keystone, who told me that Tireco provided the OEM rims on our 2007 3585SA rig. Not so--after a call to Tireco (and after sending them several camera phone photos of the rims, and then another call to Keystone, we learned that we had Tredit rims. By that time it was 4:00.

Tredit couldn't have been better to work with. I sent the camera phone photos of the rims to Tredit, and within 15 minutes I was told that 3 new rims would be on the way before 5:00 PM, with UPS overnight shipping, at Tredit's expense. We had to buy the 4th rim so that the wheels would match, because the rims that came on our rig are no longer available. Sure enough, the rims arrived Monday morning. (We did wonder why we had to buy that 4th rim, since those rims have had a dismal track record judging by what we've read about cracking rims on the MOC forum. However, we were so glad to get such quick service from Tredit, we didn't argue the point.)

Wouldn't it be nice if every company operated the way Tredit handled our problem? Of course, it would have been even better had the rims not cracked, but we were fortunate that discovered the cracks before we pulled out of the campground.
