2010 Dodge mirrors
I saw the new Dodge 3500 in Trailer Life. Today I went and looked at one. Nice. I told the salesman that all I really wanted was new mirrors on my truck but doubted they would fit.
We went to parts and low and behold the new 2010 mirrors will fit 2002 to 2010.
The 2010 are two mirrors (flat electronic controlled on top and fish eye on bottom) like the Ford. Have a turn indicator and also courtesy glow lights close to the body. $214 per mirror. Now $450 is cheaper than $60K. Why doesn't my wife believe that.

John,
Go for it. Everyone knows that women aren't very good with math. (keep this among ourselves, if any women read this, they may get a bit testy).

IF one of your current mirrors should crack, you would need new ones. A matched set would look mighty fine. I actually feel my mirrors are amongst the most important things about my truck, right under brakes.......

In John's case, if he is looking into them, ugly!

The one thing that bugged me about Dodge is the tow mirror design. I too saw the new mirrors in TL. I thought they would surely cost more than $214 ea. Will the new features (turn and glow lights) work on my 08?

John, the mirrors on my 2007 are outstanding. From what I've seen of the 2010 mirrors, they're even better. On the 2010, the fisheye goes clear across, like the Ford, as you said. On my 2007 the fisheye is one corner. Still excellent but the new one is even better in my opinion.
I personally feel much more comfortable and safe with excellent rear view mirrors. When I get in our car I feel I just cannot see the blind spots very well at all. I think Ann should agree that your safety is certainly worth the cost of those mirrors. What price does one put on life? (does that help at all???) I am serious about the safety aspect, though.

Kerry: The base mirror bracket is the same from 2002 to 2009 -- if your 5500 uses the same as the 2500 and 3500, the the mirrors will fit and the remote and heated mirror features work as well (assuming you have such on your 5500). For the led turn signals you will have to run wires from your front turn signals back through the doors and to the mirrors -- same as you would had you upgraded to the alternate towing mirrors that Chrysler (Dodge) had for the 06 thru 09 models. Bottom line -- if you have remote and heated mirrors now, everything will work given a little extra wiring.

I went back and drooled over the new Dodge. Took a 2500 for a test drive. Spun tire on start then put it in tow/haul mode and next start spun even more. Real nice, lots of power, quiet cab. Then the dealer busted my bubble. He gave me a quote on what my truck with 94K miles was worth. Oh well I just keep driving it.

My Brother-in-law told my sister he was going to get a new cd player, He came home with a New CD player wrapped in a New Dodge Ram pickup. Be careful you might come home with something attached to those New mirrors.
