Leak outside of Shower

The carpet outside the shower is always wet after taking a shower. I opened the trap door to look under the shower tub and check the floor. I could not find a leak and the floor is dry.

The throw rug we put down is also dry so I do not think the water is coming from when we open the shower door.

Any thoughts.....

I am not really sure I understand the nature of your leak. If the faucets and drain are not the source, and you have checked for the possible passage of water around the door jamb, then is must be related to the sealing of the shower unit. If that is true, I would consider it a dealer repair issue under warranty.

Any leaks I have experienced were related to the deteriation of the faucet which I replaced. Consequently, I have a cutdown plastic gallon milk jug sitting under the area where a leak might drip. About once a quarter I check to see if there is any evidence of accumilation.

As a matter of routine maintenance (after two or three trips), I check the drains for loosening of the threaded connections (due to movement while traveling). When appropriate, I replace the putty tape and retighten the drains.

I had leaks. I removed all the caulk and replaced with new. Paying very close attention to corners. It stopped leaking.

When you say you opened the trap door, is that the laundry chute door to the basement area? If so, is there a panel on the lower part of the shower stall where you could remove the screws and look inside, under the shower? Maybe this is what you meant by 'trap door.' It sounds like you have a leak under the faucet and it's wicking into the carpet. Especially since the throw rug is not wet. This would be my bet.

Thanks for the input. Yes the trap door I refered to is the one that allows you accesss to under the tub. I looked under the tub. The floor is dry. That is what confuses me...Only the carpet is wet outside the door.

If by chance you have the shower door with the U-shaped piece across the bottom, like ours, then that tends to let quite a bit of water run onto the floor when you open the door. Vicki's fix for this, which works for me as well, is to run a finger down that trough 3 or 4 times before opening the door. This is just a shot in the dark. It may not be your problem.

I took some clear caulking and ran it around the shower where the base joins the shower walls and it stopped all the leaking we had.

Well, well it sounds like you have the same problem I have. I have a 2006 Mountaineer and found a shower leak about a months ago in the same area as yours. Keystone told me to take it to Camping World for repairs. After a caulking job, I was send on my way, and now the leak is back and the smell of mildew would knock ur socks off. Today I did my own research and found that when I sprayed the water against the back panel at the base the water started to flow from under the shower into the carpet...Called Camping World and was told that the trailer would have to be taken in again and that they would need another authorization from Keystone, I guess their workmanship and warranty did not count. I tried calling Keystone today but just got the run around. I have contacted my dealer back in Canada, and awaiting for them to get back to me...

I too have a leak on my new 2005 Mountaineer 326FKS at the shower floor near the door to the living room. I will have to investigate that for a repair.
Sucks to have problems with a new rig.
