Help with Dodge 2005 Short Bed Tool Box
We have a 2005 Dodge Short bed truck. We have sold our house and go to pick up our 3475 on the 21st. We ordered tool box from Hiway products and it did not fit, whether it was cut wrong or what don't know but don't have time to order another one.
My husband has decided to go with between the wheel wells tool box and wants to know if we will have enough space for a 20 or 24 inch box (from the back glass of the cab) with a Reese 16K slider hitch. We don't get the fifth wheel hitch installed until the 21st and we have to be out of here by the 17th and need to do something with all his tools.
Thanks for your help.

Mine's not a Dodge but I have a toolbox in the bed from almost one rail to the other. I used to have the kind that sits on the bedrails, with several inches above the rails. That cleared the Montana ok when on the level but I think on an angle it might not so went with the inside the bed box. There is plenty of room for the hitch behind that. The hitch is installed per installation instructions.
I would think the Dodge would be very similar.

Like Steve, we don't have a Dodge, but we do have a short bed. Our tool box sits just below the rails and our Monty sits just fine. I think I have a minimum of six inches of clearance. You didn't give a geographical area on you profile, but we bought our at TSC (The Tractor Supply Company). They happen to carry a box that is specifically made for short bed pickups and fifth wheels.

Thanks for your input. We went up to Camping World today and according to them where they would put the slider 5th wheel hitch we would have to get a very small toolbox and since my husband is a mechanic and is not ready to get rid of all his tools that wouldn't work so we we bit the bullet and bought a new 2006 Dodge 3500 dually. Makes it an expensive toolbox but he should be able to carry all that he wants.
Thanks again.

Congratulations on the new truck. I guess that answers the question of will it fit or not. Anxious to see it Gibby. Did you see the comments about Tractor Supply. There is one in Fredericks burg. Gee Betty I had to be nice to Velda to get a new truck.
