Water Softener

We are wintering in central Florida. DW is concerned about the water hardness and would like me to look into buying a water softener. Do many of you use a water softener and could you please provide a recommendation or opinion?

In all our fulltiming travels over the past 11+ years we've never seen the need for a water softener.

we use the "on the go" brand that you recharge with table salt about every 30 days. We like it and have been using it for going on 3 years now. Look in my sig photo and the softner is visible on right side of 5th wheel (blue cylinder on ground).

We use a "on the go" also. Have had it about 4 years. It works great.

On the Go!!

Most needed in the Rio Grande valley, where the water was like concrete hard. It was really snarly, could not comb out the yorkies and trying to comb or brush my hair unless it was wet was to invite MUCHO breakage. As I grow mine out to donate to Locks of Love, breakage like that is NOT welcome.

I was checking into these watersoftners and wondered where you got them and if it cuts down on your water pressure. The campground where we stay for 3months has VERY hard water and orange also. I rent a tank from in town, but has gotten pretty expensive. Thought about one of these to pay for itself in the long run.
Thanks

We purchased at a RV dealer in the RGV, but here is the manufacturer's website:

On The Go.

CountryGuy says no affect on water pressure, I did not note one either.

One thing we liked the most, is that it took table salt. Cheap and easy to store, easy to find at any grocery store.

It does NOT address the orange water.

I saw this on an infomercial the other day. They have a small version for condo's etc. That would work nicely for a trailer.

We use the Travel Soft, which uses solar or rock salt. Wouldn't be without it in Arizona and a few other places we've been.
