Snap Pin Question?

This is not a tech question just a question. You people that have the snap pins on your monties are they on the inside or the outside of the landing gear legs? I order a set from cw and was just wondering which side most were on. Sounds silly I guess, shouldn't make much difference.. Thanks Jack

Ours are on the outside. Bob added about a 6 inch eyebolt through the bottom hole of the landing gear to assist in raising the leg while holding the pin out.

I have mine still on the front of the legs. Reason is because if you would happen to hit something on the road[piece of tire, wrappers, wire, who knows what] with them pointing towards the front there is less chance of the junk hitting the pin and releasing the pin so as the foot could drop down and hit the road and bend or destroy the leg. This is just my thought, but had it happen to a friend. luckily he got stopped with no damage to the leg. his was pointing out the side and figured that what he hit released the pin.

I also have mine pointing forward, I find it easy to relese the pin when letting the legs down, and when I am putting them up, and removing the wood from under them, and not having to go to the outside of the trailer to pull the pin. But I do have conciderable room behind my truck when conected enugh to have the tailgate down and make a turn without hitting the trailer. so I can see if your tailgate is close to the trailer ( 6 ft beds ) having them pointing out would be better for you,

Mine are also pointing forward, they came from the factory this way. I had never thought to change them, as TT2 stated I have a great deal of room between the truck and coach and it had not been a problem for me yet.

I guess mine are outside but I have to admit I have thought about moving them to the front.

Mine are on the outside. The factory did not install the snap pins in the early 2003 models. I had to do that.

Starting with the late 2003 models Keystone moved the landing gear farther apart (after reading a suggestion in this forum) and turned the holes to a fore-aft orientation. Ours are side-to-side. I'd like to have the later model with the pins to the front and he landing gear more outboard. Because our landing gear are farther inboard it's quite a reach to the snap pins from the side of the coach. Hard on the ol' back.
