Prices at the "show"
Went to an rv show today out of boredom more than anything else. I couldn't believe how high the "show" prices were! Are they really getting these prices nowadays? BTW I didn't see anything that made me want to sell my 09 Monty.

Unfortunately, they do get those prices from people who may be unprepared. It costs an insane amount of money for them to participate in an RV show and they need to make it up somehow. They also use the emotional factor of the show in my opinion to get people to buy on the spot before they have time to research and price shop.

Got a lot of the same comments from folks who went to the Wichita RV show while we were gone. They said the prices were unrealistically high, but many of the rigs were marked sold so I guess someone was paying those prices.

Have you thought about how the price Of petroleum affects the price of materials not to mention almost everything . Where will it end?

They have to start somewhere, and they can always come down from the list price, but can't go up.

Doesn't really matter if they start high or low, if you're trading the bottom line is the difference and if you can live with the difference. Some start out high (MSRP) but will give you way more than what you paid for your trade. If not happy with the difference, walk away, if happy sign on the dotted line. Don't really know where it leaves the first time buyers though?

We were at the show in Minot, ND a few weeks ago and thought they were out of line. Last month at the Minneapolis show, we saw incredible price mark downs. That one was tempting!!

We have always been able to beat show prices when we negotiate for a new unit. We bought our 2010, almost identical unit as seen in the Tampa RV show, for 9K less than the show price, although it took 3 weeks of back and forth discussions.

Prices have increased but then again the 2012 3402 Big sky that we ordered makes this 06 3400 look like a Model T. In terms of the "deal" we got about the same "deal" on the new one as the old one but it still cost way more $$$$.

Noticed the same thing at the Portland (OR) RV show a couple of weeks ago. Had "show" special prices, but they looked to be high. Then as we were standing looking, we overheard a salesman talking to a couple. Boy was he laying it on......."such a deal I have for you"......etc, etc. The price he was quoting was WAY out of line. But, as was said, it's the emotional factor kicking in. I would NEVER buy at a show, unless I knew for SURE that the price was a good one. Kind of like going to an auction...you can get caught up in the "fever" of the moment.
