I leave my door open if I leave the Honda in the bay and let it run. I also built a slide out tray to be able to access the the pull start better. The tray rattled a little so I converted back to a plywood shelf for the generator to sit on. This also raises the generator up out of the pit. The pit stores my Harbor Freight air compressor and extra cords.
If you use a shelf like I do it is easy to make some slots for the feet of the Honda to sit in to keep it from moving around when you travel.
