Updated-New Montana High Country
Hello,
I'm Dan in Montana.
My wife and I just purchased a new 2012 Montana High Country 303!
We traded in a 2011 Springdale 232 SRT
We needed a trailer with a bit more room than the 232 has.
This 303 should have plenty of room for 2 choc Labs, and 2 house panthers(Manx cats)
To be comfortable.
We are both long time trailer campers , but this is our first 5er.
90% of our camping is in the mountains in unimproved sites.
Hopefully this Montana HC has the ground clearance !
I just finished installing a B&W turnoverball, and companion hitch in my 2011 Dodge 3500. Supposed to pickup the Montana on May 11th.
Glad to see there is a web site just for Montana owners.

Early tomorrow morning we're taking out brand new 343RL High Country on it's maiden voyage from Southern California to Zion NP in Utah. We're as excited as kids waiting for Christmas.
We've added a solar system and a satellite system to the trailer, an electrical surge protector, plus we've moved a bunch of our knick knacks from our old trailer into the new one. We've added a 20K 5th wheel hitch with Blue Ox bed saver to the 2012 F-250 diesel 4x4 crew cab truck. We also added a tire pressure monitoring system, a height warning system, as well a notched and louvered tailgate. The 6500 watt Onan generator is here but there wasn't enough time to install it before we left, but it's already wired in and will be installed as soon as we get back and before we leave on out BIG two month trip this summer.
Ain't retirement grand?!?!?!

What's this "Retirement" you speak of????
I wish I was retired!
The wife and I are both employed by the US Govt (don't hate me)
so will probably never be able to retire.
My agency has no mandatory retirement age so will probably be here forever!

Update:
Took the Montana out for her maiden voyage over the Memorial holiday!
Spent 5 days Boondocking in the mountains.
Trailer was plenty roomy enough even with 4 people and 2 Chocolate labs !
Temperatures were in the low 50's during the day,low 30's at night.
Love the B&W companion hitch!
Had no problem pulling into or backing out of our camp spot. Plenty of clearance over the bed rails, even when going through some deep holes, and over rocks.
Found a few water leaks under the galley, and bathroom sinks.
Tightened the fittings and leaks stopped.

So, you didn't have any problems with ground clearance, since the HC's have reduced ground clearance because their "basements" are so huge. Heck, I was even thinking of making the pass through a mother-in-law cottage!
You've got a good looking rig there!
Just one question: in the second picture at your campsite, what do you have hanging from you pinbox?

No problem with ground clearance.
I was worried that the front jacks would hit, but they didn't .
I have a king pin tripod , with a trash bag hanging under it.

We just took our new High Country 338 DB out for the first time this week-end loved it.. Plenty of room for all (myself, husband and pup) we traded in our Keystone Everest which was a great Fifth wheel but it was time to retire the old girl and always loved the Montana's. We are actually pulling it with a Ford 2500 super duty . No problem pulling it at all. Love the outside Kitchen on this saved the wear everytime someone needed a drink or snacks. Glad we made this choice.. Sure you will enjoy yours as well so congrats.

The High Country is built to be light, (Helium Technology). They weigh in at less than 10,000# dry. You have made a great choice when weight is a primary concern.

Picked up the unit a few days ago with the generator and MorRyde pin box installed. Wow, it's a sweet suite!
I also installed six 5-LED puck lights throughout the unit that turn on individually or via a wireless remote. I picked them up for less than $30 at Costco, with all batteries, AAA, included. I set up two in the bedroom so that if DW is sawing logs, I can still find my way to bed without waking her up with the regular lights; I have one in the bathroom, one each over the dining room table and over the counter in the kitchen, and one opposite the electrical control panel by the stairs - this serves two purposes: one it's low enough so that I can turn it on just reaching into Monte from the outside steps (with the door open) making it easy to navigate the stair and see that control panel. The remote will turn all on or off just from my bed, so they kind of also work as indoor panic lights. An additional feature is that there is a 30 minute timer on the remote. Can you tell I'm really excited about these lights!
