Louisville, KY

I will be in Louisville, KY the end of June for a convention. I was wondering if anybody new of any campgrounds they could recommend in the area. The convention is at the KY Exposition Center on Phillips Lane.

I’ve stayed at the KOA North (I think it’s called) next to Tom Stinnett RV just across the river in Indiana. It’s just off of the main route 65 going north & south. There used to be a camping world right next to the RV place but I think it went out. This is doable but it’s not the best campground where you are next to a train track and it is tight getting in and out. Other than that it’s a nice campground. When I stayed there I had a M/H which seemed really tight to maneuver around but the fifth wheel may be a little easier. When we were there, there were several M/H’s and campers. I would stay there again where it’s a nice campground for the convenience of where it’s at. Just be careful, on down the road there is a low bridge which is easy to see. One trip we were there a fifth wheel pulled into the RV repair shop where it had rammed the bridge. It’s < a ½ mile past the campground. You would have to make a turn to hit the bridge. Easy to watch out for!

If you’re coming up the river toward Portsmouth, Ohio or passing through North East KY give us a call. Maybe we can get together for a dinner or something.

We stayed at Grandmas RV Camping. Been there twice and will absolutely return,
It's on I-65 just south of Louisville. All sites are pull thrus on gravel with paved patios. There web site says "Super Clean" and that ain't no bull.

There is a state campground at Charlestown, Indiana, Charelstown State Park, across the river from Louisville. It is about 7 or 8 miles to the east. They have full hook ups and 50 amp service on selected sites. We make a 4 or 5 day weekend trip once or twice a year.
You can go to the Indiana DNR web site and select camping. You can also reserve on line.

We've also been to the Charlestown State Park and would highly reccommend it! Very nice and clean state park, one we will return to.

I third the vote for Charlestown SP. Have been there a few times myself.
Full Hook up and the sites are paved and roomy.

Grandma's have grass? Looking at it on google earth it appears to be a big parking lot Next to a trucking terminal. We are going to be doing the Bourbon Trail and are looking for a place to stay but I do not want to stay in a parking lot. We like a little greener campsite .
