Vicki, you didn't tell us some of the important stuff. What color scheme did you order?

Hi Helen ... we got the Venetian Gold color scheme. Hoping some of our sage green stuff from this house will work.

When we passed through that area, I was reminded of the British "pasties," and sure enough...That's just what they were.

We didn't sample them, though.

Probably a mistake. With so many sources around the area, I'm guessing some are pretty good!

Is the population in that area British-leaning?

I don't think the above will solve Steve's apparent confusion.

Steve
Actually the Finnish (Finland) miners in the iron and copper mines of the U.P. had these made for them by their wifes for lunches while underground. Kept them going all day. Need to be careful of "copy cat" pasties. My suggestion would be to only buy fresh (not frozen) from a U.P. place of business, or Mackinaw City. I'm sure there may be other places where these could taste fine (NE Wisconsin comes to mind). But only the local folks seem to know the exact ingredients of the original pasties. When you get a "proper" pastie, you'll know it... won't need a side dish to fill you up.

Good choice, Vicki! I'm not sure about the sage colors on the recliners, but Cheryl says it brings out the color on the couch... I didn't even ask...

Dave,

Thanks for the tip!

When I saw the sign, and realizing I was in the U.S., (where so many things are “customized,”) I was hoping that maybe someone had adapted the originals, (I had no idea they weren’t English,) to using fruit in them. I would have killed to have a fruit-filled delight with the crust I recalled from England. They were very flaky.

Next time we’re through there, I’ll have to try some. We stayed in Mackinaw City. Lots of touristy stuff, but no Dunkin Donuts! But, then, we were only there for a day. Nice country!

The restaurants and cafes I saw with the signs on looked like they made them right there. One place was a bakery, as well.

Later,
Steve
