levelers up or down?
My friend told me we shouldn’t leave the rv on the grass for the winter because to moisture is bad for the underside of the unit.
He also said his owners manual said not to leave the leveling jacks down during winter storage.
Please let me know, what is the norm here?

Before we went fulltime our rig was on gravel and we had the jacks down on blocks to try and keep them out of all but the really deep snow. Not sure if gravel would make a difference over grass as far as keeping moisture out. Anyway we never had an issue.

We have stored on gravel, never grass. We would pull up on boards, and leave levelers up. No longer store unless snowbirding in Fl counts.

There is no doubt that grass growing under a vechile can help transfer moisture to it. I would think that the closer the grass is to the bottom of the vechicle the more moisture would be transferred. If I was to store over grass I would cut it as short as possible, maybe even spray something like RoundUp on it. As far as having the jacks down; mine is stored inside, and not only are the jacks down, they are lifting the tires slightly off the ground. I left mine like that for a full year, while I was dealing with cancer, with no detrimental effects.

My six point levelers stay down from Oct to Apr each year. Six seasons this way..I wipe a light coat of AW32 or motorcycle fork oil on the exposed portion of each leveler cylinder.
Lippert says spray with dry silicone lube. It has about zero retention properties so I use AW32 because that’s what is in my hyd reservoir.
Before I retract at start of each season I wipe them down and apply a light coat of AW32 ....

Actually Lippert now seems to be advocating the automatic trans fluid instead of the silicone saying it will keep the seals in better shape.
