Wanted Speakers

I blew 2 of the 3 speakers above my TV and wondered if anyone knew where to order them or hand some they weren't using. I tried Keystone no luck. I don't want to cut the holes bigger. Any help, ideas, or new models the same size would be great.

Don-- check at Radio Shack! They carry the speaker brackets for the other speakers in the surround sound and also the speakers. They should carry a speaker that will work for those you are talking about also! I have the same Monty just a year older!

Don, I replaced mine with the Bose cubes. I did have to use a file to enlarge the holes just a tad. I also added two above the rear window in our 3400 and gave the OEM DVD system to charity and replaced it with a Yamaha 7.1 receiver. Left the two speakers over the main slide. Also replaced TV with a 32" LCD HDTV. Sounds great and great picture.

You could try just leaving the existing speaker shells in place for cosmetic purposes only, and then mount some other small speakers directly behind. (at least on our layout that could be done, may not work with every configuration).

One side of my ceiling speakers would be off sometimes and then quit all together. Thought it was a loose connection on the amp but found the problem was caused by a bad wirenut connection at the speaker in the ceiling. This affected both speakers for this side but now all is well.

Replaced the with a Bose system 5 speakers and receiver. Great sound, no modification necessary, wireless speakers in rear instead of small cheap wire. Instead putting a screw in the top of the speaker to hold it in the hole, I put an eye bolt in the rear speaker bracket hole, drilled a hole in the shelf and fastened the speaker to the shelf with a nylon tie strap.

When I replaced my speakers I filled the holes over the TV with sponge cut to the shape of the square hole. The sponge is the type we use with your pond filter (had it laying around) spray painted it black and cut to fit the holes looks good.
