New steps?

Hello, have a '14 3150rl with the Hickory Spring steps. Yes, a bit bouncy.

We are considering a set of the steps like on the new rigs.

So, do we need to go with the Lippert steps or the Morryde steps? All the rigs in the campground have the Lippert steps, but just the name makes me want the Morryde ones.

We had Lippert folding steps on our old rig for 7 years of full timing and they worked well. I would assume their new steps would be good also. We couldnt use the Moryde steps that came on our new rig so they put Lippert folding steps on it also.

Our original Hickory steps broke earlier this year, and I replaced them with the Lippert aluminum tread steps. Hickory is owned by Lippert now, and the replacement steps were an exact replacement. The steps are rated 300 lbs, and look a lot better than the ones that came with our rig. Yeah, there is a bit of movement when going up and down, but they are very easy to open and close, especially when making a stop when traveling.

These are a tad lighter and brighter. If I ever need to replace my steps these are what they will be.

Op here, saw both Morryde and Lippert steps. Morryde steps are $100 less money, but we went with Lippert.

Reason, top step is 13.5" deep. Morryde is 8.5". Walked on both. The reason for even considering the inconvenience of solid steps is ease of entering rig. The deeper top step to us is worth the extra $$

Also, the mounting plate in the gen 3 Lippert step has 10 screws, fits up against the threshold, while the Morryde sets back 15/16" and is secured with 5 screws.

Not a prime member, bought from carid, $400.

There are a couple fairly recent threads here on the pluses and minuses of these steps with the pluses seeming to outweigh the negatives. We have tha LCI Solid Steps with the longer top (landing) step along with the Stromberg grab bar plus the MORryde tool box to fill in the hole where the original steps folded.. We love the setup. As far as the cost - on AMAZON, I have seen the LCI at about 20 bucks to 80 bucks more - depending on the day, moon phase or hour of high tides

Went with the morryde steps. They have been excellent to date. The lippert model should be equally good.

We upgraded to the Lippert "Solid Step" this spring. Bought them on Amazon - 4 step - 30 inch for $380. Got them in 4 days. We are very happy with them and DW can open and close no problem. I don't remember who has the gas shock assist option, but that would be a nice add! I added some self stick foam to the door frame where the brackets hit just to reduce the scratching.

I also added the tool box that goes where the old steps mounted. This will be a great place to keep the chocks and Anderson leveler blocks. Looks nice also but a little costly.

We have the LCI Solid Steps. We like them. OEM versions of Either have a gas shock too assist with lifting.

The two are very close to the same - you will be happy with either.

Warning...Just took delivery and began to use our 2019 Montana. The Step Above folding steps MUST BE adjusted to the shortest length when closing the screen and entry door.

The day before I was at an uneven campsite. I extended the "feet" downward to make up the void. After leaving the campsite the following day, we stopped for lunch. I brought down the steps, walked up the steps to the inside of the trailer and went to close the screen door. Except the bottom of the screen door was hitting the door saddle on the bottom. I couldn't close it!? After some thought and looking over the situation it dawned on me.

When the feet are extended out and the camper is on level ground, the screen door will not close. The top of the steps has a built-in saddle. When the feet are extended out, that saddle is elevated and causes the bottom sweep of the screen door to collide with it. So be sure to bring the feet all the way in!

Well I got my new Lippert steps Friday, on time. Just one problem. LIPPERT has no clue on how to build a cardboard box that will contain 60lbs of metal.

The box was open when it arrived, no hardware inside, bent in several places, and right side frame twisted. Box tore all to hell.

Called place where I bought them, take pictures, send them in, now wait for them to get UPS to pick them up for inspection.

Lucky I am here till the end of the month so UPS hopefully can get them picked up.

Just another Lippert experience?.....

I'm sorry to hear that but a couple others on different forums have reported their Lippert or MORryde steps damaged in transit. They, to me, are just too unwieldly for UPS to handle without damage though the lady UPS delivery person had no trouble



I must have gotten the 'special' packaging as ours were undamaged, in a very heavy tri-wall box, some foam and bubble pack and 4 nylon straps holding it all togeter

My Lippert steps, the box was damaged and a dent on the steps. Was not enough to mess with.

once you get them you'll like them.

I would go with the Lippert steps. They have a wider landing at the top step. We put them on our 3910 and love them.

just wondering how well these steps work when you have to stop on the side of the road real quick to get in the fridge or use the bathroom , do the steps have to touch the ground to step on them or can they just hang there while you step on them, just for a quick entry. what about stopping somewhere in a parking lot with other cars or trucks beside you would there be enough room for them to swing out and down or are you going to have to pick your spot to park. And if you have to adjust them to hit the ground every time you need to make a quick stop in the camper sounds like a hassle. that's why I like the old standard ones that flip down. Just fold down a couple steps and jump in. But our camper our fridge and bathroom and bedroom are assessable without the slides open. works nice stopping on the road
