First Time Out
We managed a short quick trip to Lake Texana State Park for a shakedown on the new Monty. Even though we have been playing with it here at the house we stumbled upon a few things that we had not found before. We have been 5th wheeling for 15 years but this rig is in several ways different from what we have had in the past. All in all it was a good learning experience and did not find any major suprises. I called the dealership this afternoon and gave him a list of things that need attention and set up a date to get these issues resolved. The most notable item I found about a week ago was a staple that was covered up by the rubber roof upon construction.
The other major concern that I have with the F-250. I think the pin weight is making the truck squat a little more than it should so I called and found some Firestone Ride-Rite air bags. Will go pick them up tomorrow. We had a 20-25 MPH cross wind for the entire trip and I could feel the effect on the truck, but power with the PSD was not a problem.
The middle of the month we will leave for Lake Eufaula, Ok. for a month. This should give us a good idea of anything else that might need attention when I take it back to the dealer.
The Monty is our present pride and joy. Love the Fantastic-Fan.....

Charlie,
How fun. Shakedowns are always exciting! Nice choice on the rig also. We hope you have years of adventure in your new toy.

Charlie,
How was the park at Lake Texana? Is the park near Edna, TX?
If it is the one I am thinking of, there were plenty of tree's and wildlife. Thanks

Thunderman-
Yes, this is the one you are thinking of, it is near Edna. Lots of deer and other wildlife and birds. The park is great and very quiet.

Charlie, we too had a little sag on our F250 because of our 3120 lb pinweight. We didn't have this with the prior F350. We added the Firestone bags and eliminated the sag. With the bags there is no effect on the truck/trailer from the wind or passing semi's. The F250 with the camper (not tow package) package has the extra leaf in the springpack like the F350 and doesn't need the bags. We don't have the camper package and the bags made a big difference.
