ALMOST LOST MY MONTANA

What can I say but when it rains it pours. Here is what happened. I was getting dressed to go get stuff for Thanksgiving dinner when I thought I could smell smoke,I went outside to see if a rig was on fire. Well yes there was and it was MINE people came from all over the park to help but I lost it and paniced. Walt drove up just in time grabed the water hose and put out the fire. Fire department came and checked out everything and this is what they said. The hole in the front comparment where the 12 volt lines run through had no protection letting the wires rub there. It had rubbed enough that for some reason it caused a spark and caught the Hydrolic hoses and pump on fire. It has wiped out all the 12 volt system all the way to the fuse box inside, the 12 volt wire is melted inside.

Walt is outside now trying to drop the belly because now he has found that sewer line is leaking. He just came in and said the line is melted. WOW!!! I will keep you all updated, Have already called GMAC Insurace to get the ball roleing. Please look over all mistakes I am a nervous wreck. Opps! just found out the Gray Tank has a huge hole in it also. Can someone please give me the number for Jeff R. at keystone?? We may have to take it to the factory.

So sorry to read of all the problems. At least you are not in the snow and wind trying to do all of this! Will say a prayer for both of you and hope you still have a good Thanksgiving.

Linda and Walt,

Very sorry to hear about this. Don't have Jeff's number but I think his e-mail address is rank,jeff@keystonerv.com. Never tried it.

Back in Oct I posted about my electrical problem and it looks like it is similiar to yours. Burnt wires caused by rubbing in the hole opening.

http://montanaadministrator.forumco....C_ID~12072.asp

My electrical system was functioning even though my wires were burnt pretty bad. Just luck that I found it.

In the front storage compartment on the right hand side behind the battery's there is a hole with the 12 volt wires running through it. Ours just had the wires laying in that hole they did not put anything there to protect the wires. We just found out that most of the wireing is going to have to be replaced. Please do check yours a few more minutes and the propane would have exploded.

The main thing is that both of you are safe and sound. To think what could have happened is unthinkable.Wish you the best of luck in getting every thing back as it should be.
