3400RL Kitchen Garbage

It has been along time since I've posted anything on this forum. We currently have a 2003 3295RK, and are trading it in for a 2007 3400RL, which is on order.
One thing I noticed , besides the huge reduction in kitchen storage, is the lack of dedicated drawer space for the garbage can.

What do others do? Do you use up the precious space under the sink, or have a free standing garbage can?

I am very excited about the 3400RL, but we are sure going to have to rethink what we permanently keep in terms of kitchen gadgets, pots and pans, etc.

We have a free standing can. It fits in the corner by the frig and pantry. Not always convenient when getting into the cupboards but it is out of the way. Just pull out to the end of the counter when putting the slides in.

We moved the lazy susan under the sink to the other (LR) end of the cupboard and the waste basket stores where the lazy susan was and is accessible from both sides. Sometimes Ed sets it out at the short side of the island but in the kitchen. We almost bought the 3295 and decided at the last minute on the 3400. You will be surprised how much room there is for storage once you start using it. Be sure to use the space under the frig and under the oven and inside the oven for storage. Enjoy your new unit!
Happy trails...........................

I have a free standing garbage can. It fits perfectly in the washer/dryer closet and also carries the coffee pot while in transport.

We keep ours under the sink -- because I'm too lazy to walk ALL the way over to the W/D closet !

Bonnie and Scott ... we went from a 2003 3295 to a 2007 3400 at the end of August. I have to admit, I lost a LOT of sleep worrying whether I was going to find a home for everything in convenient and logical places. I'm very pleased to announce that I did! I'm still in the moving-things-around-until-it-works-the-way-I-want-it-to stage, a/k/a fine tuning, but overall, we're pretty settled in.

Oh yeah ... your question We have a free-standing, step-on-the-pedal-to-open trashcan which I put at the end of the counter. The flashlight and charger (that work!) get in the way, but we're tripping over the trashcan less and less as we adjust. As Myrna mentioned, just sliding it a bit gets it out of the way of the slides.

Congratulations and good luck with your new Montana

Free standing one here. I keep it to the right of the sink at the end of the island. I tried putting near the flashlight but hubby kept running into it.

bonscott, I know we own a 3280 but, we utilized the space on the door under the sink for a smaller can that hangs on the inside of the door. We use grocery bags in it and they are easy to empty. The pullout trash can we had is now two seperate pantry drawers. By the way, congrats on the 3400, as usual that model came out 2 months AFTER we recieved our 3280, go figure! You will find a place for everything in due time, just enjoy the unit while doing so.

Thanks everyone, for the quick replies. I see there are a few options to choose from.
Now, I will be back on this website more often, looking for other great ideas.
Vicki, I did notice last month, that you had traded the same year and model, for the same one we are getting. We've been dreaming of the rear living room, and 4 slides, for a couple of years now.
