We had a Dutchman and it didn't have the storage the Montana has. Of course it was smaller but the small sized Montana has more storage and more extras with a better use of space for living space.

Sunnybrook was on our short list of prospective 5ers. Like Richfaa, one of the primary reasons we did not select it was due to the distance to the dealer. Also, they are heavy...they have six models, four with GVWR of 15000 and two at 16000. One thing I never did understand...even with those weights, the axles are only 6000, like ours. Must make for some high pin weights.

I tried to find the Sunnybrook website with specifications to see if the dealer is feeding a line about the insulation R value but couldn't find it. I found www.sunnybrookrv.com but it doesn't list the Sunnybrook.

The Montana is R21 for the roof, R14 for the floor, R9 for the sidewalls.

SReigle...those Montana "R" ratings are only with the Arctic Insulation Package.

Re the Sunnybrook insulation. We looked at them very closely. One thing we did not like was that the brochure says the "R" values are 11/7/7 for the ceiling/walls/floor. I asked two dealers and the SB forum why such low ratings, and all I got was that the 'real' insulation was much greater than the brochure and that the brochure ratings were just the base insulation. Didn't make much sense or inspire much confidence.

Bottom line is I don't know what the truth is, and I'm not sure SB owners do either.

Does anyone notice that no matter what the brand the manufactures are hesitant to give out accurate information on most anything..why is that???

Rich,
The reason for that is simple. Every brochure stats it at the bottom of their specifications page. It usually says one of the following.

"Due to continued product enhancement actual weight may vary"

"Depending on optional equipment selected actual weight will vary"

2004 Montana 3400RL

They should add to that "Due to the fact that if we actually gave you the accurate information you might not buy the product" One day the Rv industry will "get the message" as the auto industry did in the late 60"s early 70's. Quality will make or break the product..The auto industry got it to late and the RV industry has not learned from their mistakes. One day the Japanese or Chinese to get into the USA Rv business..and it will be all over...

Thanks. I was at the right site but didn't think to look under "Titan." Interestingly, the specs show the axles are 5200 lbs each, even on the 2-axle trailers. That seems a bit light. This was on trailers with dry weight over 12,000 pounds and GVWR of 15,000.

I would take a really hard look at a Sunnybrook before buying one. Look at fit and finish, materials used, and overall construction. I tore one apart before I bought my 3400RL and was very surprised at what I found.

Well I bought the Montana because it was the best overall choice for us and we are completely satisfied that we made the right choice..However. I don't think I would want to scrutinize the fit and finish, Materials used, and overall construction of the Montana either . Don't think we want to look at any of them to closely or we might take up some other recreational activity....Buy a Sunnybrook, Cardinal, Jayco, Open Roads, whatever and you will see the same kind of workmanship , materials and vendor supplied items in all of them.I also, along with many here , belong to RV net open roads forum ..you hear the very same issues about all the brands.

I am still amazed that you even found an rv that would meet your standards. I guess that says alot about the Montana.

We were just in Elkardt IN, getting our steps replaced and a owner of a new grand junction was there. He had his replaced shortly after buying and then driving through a rain storm his floor and rugs were a soaked so he brought back in, and we had a down pour and his roof leaked badly. But he said he got a great deal on it, chaper than a Monty? Icould see why.

Actually I amazed even myself. There was a time when we felt there was not a brand out there worth buying. We came out of a couple of factories shaking our head in disbelief at what we saw. Then we met a MOC member and toured his brand new 3295. Need I say more. I will say that we looked hard at many brands and toured many factories, some more than once and I will defend our decision to go with the Keystone/ Montana brand..We know, without a doubt that it is the best bang for the buck..... And Wild bill..substitute any brand name in your story about the Grand Junction. Montana's leak, Montana's get wet rugs, Montana's have leaky roofs and slides as do all the brands. It is somewhat less likely %wise that those things will happen to our Montana...but they happen on a regular basis. We are not without fault.

No, both the triple and the dual axle trailers showed 5200 lb axles and the 12,000 lbs dry I quoted was a dual axle trailer. I specifically stayed away from the triples since they would have 15,600 pounds of axle while the duals have just 10,400. It was the specifications sheet I was looking at. Model 34BWKS at

My information on the Sunnybrook axles came from their 2006 Titan brochure.

Due to high house prices and high rents, my son is going to live in his trailer, so he is not concerned about weights. He will be staying in one place, but has the option of moving if he changes jobs. House prices in Alberta are rising daily, and renting is keeping pace. Site rent and a trailer are much more reasonable! I just hope the R-value is what he has been told!
