AC QUESTION

2014 Montana High Country.Where we store our 5th wheel there is a 20 amp outlet that we can use for short periods of time such as precooling our fridge.today my wife turned on the 15000 AC and it kicked right in and seemed to run fine for several minutes. I turned it off and turned on 13200 unit and let it run for about 15 minutes. Is there a danger of damage running on 20 amps?

If you look at the breakers for both A/C units, they are only 20 amps. As long as absolutely nothing else is running, you should be OK. Need to make sure your power cable is large enough to minimize voltage drop to protect the units.

Bob hit the key: make sure the cord you are using from the outlet to the trailer is heavy enough and/or short enough.

I ran AC units on 20 AMP for years' On extremely hot days when many were running their AC units their was a voltage drop.
Not to long ago a lot Campgrounds only had 20AMP service!

I'll buck the trend here and point out despite the mentioned history of RV parks that you may be within the amps part, but the voltage part (as mentioned as well) depends on wire and other loads on what you're plugged in to. Your A/C will run on say 105 volts, but it won't be doing itself any good. You can hear the difference of a low voltage situation. If you flipped on the A/C's just to see ... disregard my babbling.

There is a very inexpensive volt meter that would help with your concerns.
