Tucson Resort recommendations

We're planning our first trip to Arizona with an approximate departure the last week of December. We'd like to stay far enough to the south in Arizona to enjoy some nice weather during January and February and thought Tucson would be good. So many Rv parks to choose from. Beaudry RV park looks like it would have been nice but has closed. Rincon Country West or East RV resort looks nice. We'll be mainly touring the area after arrival so may not use a lot of resort activities. The wife does enjoy quilting and sewing. We're open to suggestions at this point.

We will likely head north to Sedona area for March.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or advice

We spent a couple of weeks at Desert Trails in SW Tucson last winter and loved it. It is located in the Senora Desert at the foot of Tucson Mountain Park. It is located either close to or on the way to most of the area. There are a myriad of activities and entertainment and quiet if you wish to escape. The people running the park were attentive to our wants and needs and very nice to deal with - probably our favorite park on our SW trip.

You might look at Voyager RV Resort. It is an "Upscale" park that offers many activities. We also had our MOC Spring rally there a couple of years ago and most had a good time. They have every type of home in their park. If you're not into activities you might want to look at another park.

We stayed at Voyager for the MOC Spring Rally a few years ago. It was our first experience in a mega park--it did have every activity anyone could want--wood working, dancing, pickle ball, swimming pool, clubs for everything. I would return if I did not already live in a great winter area--San Antonio, Texas--! The gated security gives everyone a good feeling about security.

We have stayed a couple of times at Justin's Diamond J RV Park it is right next door to Desert Trails. They don't have as many activities as Desert Trails and the "Management" is frequently not around but, they have much larger sites than at Desert Trails. Especially if you get one of the sites at the back of the park.

If you don't have to be right in Tucson, there are some good parks for very reasonable prices in Benson, AZ, about 30 or 35 miles east of Tucson. If you are an escapees member, it's really hard to beat, in my opinion, the SKP Saguaro Co-op RV Park in Benson. It's away from the train noise of other parks. The price is rather cheap for what you get. It's a beautiful park. No reservations, though. Just show up and tell them what you want. If they can't get you into a site right away you can park on the blacktop overflow area (dry camping) for $5 per night until an opening comes up. I think there's a 5 night limit on that. We got right in and spent a month there. It's one of the best parks we've ever been in.
