convection ovens

Does anyone happen to have an "Oppollo" 1/2 time convection oven? in their rig, my sister just called me and her new Montana has one and she tried to cook a potato in it on Microwave and it darn near burned itself up, she's scared to use it now. A year ago I had the same trouble with our Montana, it has a "Samsung" convection oven in it and we replaced two of them because they would over heat and melt the door shut!!!, since then it has ben in storage so we haven't burned anymore up.

Thanx
Ken

We have the Apollo 1/2 time convection microwave and love it. We use it all the time. The thing to remember, is that it will cook your food in 1/2 the time by using both heat and microwave. We use it to bake potaoes a couple times a week, and you simply need to check them every 5-10 minutes or so. We have a oven as well in our rig, but we have never used it.

We have the Apollo 1/2 time also and love it. She should have gotten a book with hers that will give her some good ideas.

Thanx for the input, my sister called me back and said she had put the potatos in and punched 1/2 mode and didn't use the proper utinsels to bake it in, she intended to use micro only, I guess this is an example of "reading the instructions", since she has read the booklet it seems to be working alright(I hope)
Thanx again all

We have used ours in all the modes and love it but you do have to think about what you are doing. We've baked in it and it works well but we use it mostly for micro. I'm a big instuctions reader so we do okay. I read, Ed does the work. This is the way we put things together also. Works really well.
Happy trails......................

Do any of you have any successful hints for cleaning the inside of this oven?

We use ours for baking and microwave both. We just absolutely love it. We have used it for just about everything. We do use our oven at times, but for the most part we use our half time oven.

As for cleaning it, right now we just use a damp dish cloth when we wash the dishes. I have noticed that we are getting some grease stains on the walls, and was wondering myself what type of cleaner would be safe to use.

Put it in the Microwave mode, put a cup of water in there and heat it. Immediately wipe the walls down with a dishcloth. The water makes steam which loosens anything in there.

Those half time ovens can be tricky to use. You have to read the instructions. Being a guy I never have to read instructions because we know everything. I will not go into details but the first time I used it, in the house, all the fire alarms went off and it took over 1 hour to rid the house of smoke.
