I have never owned a SB pickup, I feel the loss of storage space and much poorer ride are not worth owning a SB. I have owned a DRW since 2001 and have always owned a LB. These have also been my daily driver so after that length of time I can park it pretty much any place I could park any other full size pickup.

We are looking at trucks. Specifically the Chevy Silverado 2500HD. We will be towing a 2014 High Country 343RL. I have read in other towing websites that you need the 8 foot box. Otherwise you have to go with the slider hitch. Can you use the 6.5 without having to get a slider hitch for this rig?
I didn't read all three pages of replies so my apologies if this has already been said...

As per my signature I used to own this combination you mention where the 2500 was a 6.5 foot box. I had a slider but never once used it. That doesn't mean you don't need to pay attention to the clearance if you're approaching 90 degrees.

As for your other thread about towing a 343RL with a 3/4 ton....

Our last truck (2010 2500HD Duramax) pulled the 343RL fine but I was over on the truck's 9200 GVWR by 1000 pounds but was still under the tire and axle max ratings.

In a cross wind it was more unstable than I liked. IMHO... In a cross wind, the lighter weight HC will be significantly more unstable than heavier Montana's of comparable length.

I upgraded to a dually where it was a night and day difference in stability and I'm well within the max ratings... Turned out to be a good move...

IMO.... The 343RL is 3/4 ton towable.... only when it's empty!

We have a 2007 Chevy, 2500HD, short bed. We have an auto slider hitch. Zero problems. Pete loves being able to use our truck as a primary vehicle when we aren't towing the rig, parking in crowded lots, etc. We added extra accessories, air bags, pac brake, extended fuel tanks, etc etc We love this truck.
