decals

We own a 2008 Montana 5th wheel, we ordered it in December of 2007 and received it in February 2008. We store the 5th wheel inside every winter from November until May. All of the decals are starting to peel off. They are all curled on the edges which really makes the 5th wheel look awful. What is Montana doing about the decals as we have talked to other Montana owners and they are having the same problem. One person took 80 hours to get the name off of the front of the 5th wheel because of the peeling. We are senior citizen and on a fixed income, this puts us in a bind is there any way we can get some help for this problem. As we go down the road we do not want to look like a fuzzy 5th wheel. thank you very much

do a search here on peeling graphics and you will find many, many post on this. some have had them replaced, some have bought replacements, but most of the units are in your same condition. Keystone has not had a regular answer for this issue. I think they have changed manufacturers for graphics, but time will tell if they are better. It is too bad that thy do not see the poor advertising they have made for themselves. But I guess as long as we keep buying them, why would they care....

The graphic problem has been a ongoing issue for many brands of RV's. Burlington graphics did the graphics for Keystone and other brands and had problems with peeling and shrinking. That was addressed every year with promises by Burlington that it would improve.. It never did. keystone changed graphic vendors I think around 2009/2010 or so and I do not know if they are any better. You may not be able to get a full set of graphics for your 2008 as they are just not made anymore. IF Keystone has any part of your graphics they have been good about providing them. Remember Keystone does not make the graphics they are vendor provided. My solution to the really bad graphics on my 2006 3400 was to have a later year graphic that was available installed .I think it was a 2010 or 2011 graphic that if installed properly had little shadowing. Our final solution was to purchase a 2013 Big sky.

What I don't understand about decals is that some are peeling in a year, others last for years. Do they change vendors (lowest bidder) every year?

Mine on the 2010 are holding up much better than the first two units, and I think one factor is because my wax jobs included the graphics on the first two, and I have been careful not to get any wax on the 2010 graphics. I have also owned Coachmen, Jayco, Sunline and Layton trailers over the years, and never had a problem with graphics on them like I have experienced with Keystone.

Our 2006 3400 graphics held up very well for 6 years .We never waxed them and they were out doors all the time in the Ohio, Arizona and Florida sun. they literally came apart in the 7th year. Some of then on the side that faced the Florida sun I could just peel off and they appeared to be brittle and dried out.

My '07 just started to curl a little around the edges on the front and rear last year. This year a little more, but not really peeling, yet. Both sides still look great. Never waxed.
Friend's '08 started peeling front, rear, and sides after 2 years. Had them replaced and they again started peeling after another year or so.
Seems no rhyme or reason on why some do and some do not. Although some who had peeling graphics replaced had them start to peel again not long afterward. That, at least to me, seems to have something to do with some difference in the surface they are mounted on.

Keystone quoted $1800 for a full set of graphics for my 2006 3475RL. I don't intend to buy them since there is no assurance these will do any better. So the $1800 for cosmetics on the Monty is my budget for air brush or some paint like on the front cap. Lots of time to come up with a solution--again this is only cosmetic not structual.
