Andersen Hitch
I am thinking of getting the Andersen Hitch for my new truck. Has anybody use this hitch? Comments? Question, with the Ford gooseneck ball work with the Andersen Hitch? As I read the info, it should.

I seriously considered one but was not willing to go bleeding edge...mixed reviews. This past weekend we we away and pulling out of the state park was interesting. I was turning right but somehow the road was banked the other way...the road turned to the right about a hundres yards on my left. I pulled out and geez what the rig was doing. Was afraid it would tip over. Wow. And was that thing bouncing left to right on the hitch! My wife said....I didnt feel anything. I told her the Hensley Trailersaver cushioned the bounce and the left to right action. Cant imagine what would happen and how that would feel if the 5er were attached to a fixed hitch ball. The Trailersaver I think is more forgiving of road irregularities and provides a much smoother ride....big assumption though I guess. I nvr used the Andersen hitch....but there is no bounce absorption at all.

we have had the anderson since may 2015 it works well with our b&w turnball. on our 2008 f350. pulled from oklahoma to south dakota over the june25-july 4th period
then back home and to beaver lake arkansas labor day weekend. the hitch is easy to install and works great so far no problems, no chucking and a smooth ride. it is rated for
24,000 gvw and hitch wt of 5,000lbs. so far we love it.

We love ours. I have never used a traditional fifth wheel hitch before so this is the only experience I have. I was deciding between the Andersen and B&W Companion. The only negatives I ever heard with the Andersen, was from people that haven't used one. I have heard negatives from all the others though.

Mike, I never had one but have been interested since they came out. Was in an RV park last week in Moab Utah and two people had them. The guy with the GMC had nothing to compare his to as he was new to a fifth wheel. He said he loved it and was easy to remove. Wish he had gotten the lighter weight aluminum one. His traveling companion had one in his 2015 Ford. He loved it over his old traditional 5th wheel hitch. He had the lite weight aluminum model. Loved the ease of removal and the clear bed. Jim

Just had a B&W ball installed and purchased an 24K aluminium Andersen...love it. No more chucking, light to put in and take out, very easy to hookup and disconnect. What else do you want to know?

Andersen Hitch
I have a long bed so my options were pretty good. Camped with my B-I-L a few times with the standard 5th wheel hitch. His friend has the Anderson and the one thing that really made a difference was you didn't have to be on a perfectly level camp spot to unhook with the Anderson, plus you can remove it easily to gain full use of your bed. Chucking is dramatically reduced and the weight savings compared to the traditional hitch is a good thing.

I have the same damage on my truck using a slider. If I actually paid attention I would have noticed I was getting close and did the slider back. I didn't have to call Curt and tell them that I was stupid. I just embraced it. Just saying
Funny thing, if you don't pay attention or set yourself up right, you will cause damage. I really don't care what truck you have.

I use an anderson hitch towing my High Country 345rl. No problems so far. 3 trips while owning it so far. Easy to remove and install in truck.
Plan to add the Moryde pinbox in the future to reduce some of the chucking that is felt.
I have a crew cab 2017 ram with a short bed and yes I have to be careful. But I can get about 80 degrees. So far that's been enough cab clearance for anywhere I've been.

Before committing to the Anderson, check out the PullRite 2400.
Ball is on the trailer, receiver is in the truck.....works well so far
20k rated, 54# hitch

I have put about 6000 miles on the Andersen so far and love it. Had a Reece and it broke on me on a previous truck, so no more of those. Was in Las Cruces in March and a fellow camper had a pullride come apart on him, he went to Andersen and has been happy since.

So far so good. I will have a couple of thousand miles on the Andersen by the middle of July. No problems and the difference in pulling between our old Reese is like night and day. Will be adding safety chains before we head into California next week.
